About Us:

At IMM International Marine Management, we provide comprehensive services to the Marine industry in the Caribbean and the USA. With a team of over 70 skilled professionals, we specialize in hydraulics, rigging, fabrication, painting, and composite work. Our unwavering focus is on delivering projects on time, within budget, and exceeding customer expectations.

Project Overview:

This job posting is specific to our project in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where we are responsible for renovating and operating the shipyard located on Quay 15 & 16. Our facilities here include a 200-foot floating dock and a 680-foot dry dock. We specialize in the repair and maintenance of superyachts, mega yachts, and workboats, with a particular emphasis on careening, painting operations, metalwork, and the maintenance of propulsion units and auxiliaries.

Role Summary:

The Marine Project Manager is responsible for the planning, execution, and delivery of marine refit and repair projects, handling a variety of vessels ranging from small sailing boats to large superyachts. Projects are carried out both afloat and ashore and involve coordinating in-house and external teams specializing in hydraulics, rigging, fabrication, painting, and composites.
The Marine Project Manager will ensure projects are delivered safely on time, and within budget while maintaining high-quality standards and exceeding customer expectations. The role reports to the Managing Director.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Health & Safety: Ensure employee and contractor safety and compliance with occupational health and safety regulations throughout all phases of project execution.

2. Compliance and Sustainability: Adhere to environmental regulations and integrate sustainable practices into project execution. Ensure projects comply with relevant marine and industry-specific regulations.

3. Technical Expertise: Provide hands-on technical expertise on board vessels during project execution.

4. Quotation and Planning: Establish detailed project quotations and associated planning using Microsoft Project, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and company objectives.

5. Technical and Financial Follow-Up: Monitor and oversee technical deliverables to ensure alignment with project requirements and financial milestones. Prepare and manage project invoices, ensuring accuracy and clarity. Maintain strong commercial relationships with customers.

6. Subcontractor Insurance Control: Ensure subcontractors meet all insurance requirements, verifying compliance before project commencement.

7. Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring their needs and expectations are met or exceeded. Facilitate clear and consistent communication with stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, contractors, and internal teams.

8. Scope Definition and Contract Management: Define and agree on the project scope with all parties during contract negotiations. Draft, review, and manage contracts to ensure alignment with objectives while documenting and addressing any scope changes.

9. Financial Oversight: Manage project budgets, ensuring financial goals are met or exceeded. Prepare financial forecasts and provide accurate reporting to the Managing Director.

10. Project Planning and Scheduling: Develop and manage comprehensive project schedules using MS Project to ensure timely delivery of milestones. Optimize resource allocation, coordinating internal staff and external contractors effectively.

11. Risk and Issue Management: Identify, analyze, and mitigate risks, escalating critical issues to the Managing Director when necessary. Provide actionable solutions to overcome challenges.

12. Quality Control: Conduct quality checks throughout the project lifecycle and ensure a high standard of workmanship is maintained. Follow up with satisfactory figures per task to ensure measurable outcomes.

13. Major Projects Technical Reporting: For major projects valued at more than $100,000 USD, prepare and submit a technical report following the IMM (International Marine Management) model for such.

14. Post-Project Review: Compile and file project documentation upon completion. Conduct post-project reviews to identify areas for improvement and implement lessons learned in future projects.

15. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Achieve high customer satisfaction scores and maintain consistent project quality.

Qualifications & Skills:

Strong Technical Knowledge in Engineering (Marine, Electrical, Mechanical, etc)
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
3-to-5-year Marine refit Project management experience.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Adhere to the company’s health and safety regulations and report any unsafe conditions to management.
Follow company rules and policies, including those outlined in the Employee Handbook.
The role may require occasional overtime and flexibility in hours based on project needs.

Compensation:

Compensation will be flexible and commensurate with experience, reflecting both the technical scope and management responsibilities of the role. Terms will be determined in line with industry standards and may vary based on the selected candidate’s qualifications, project involvement, and work arrangement (local or rotational).
