Full Job Description

Position Title: Associate Director of Marketing

Department: Marketing

Reports to: Vice President of Development

FLSA Classification: Exempt, $71,000 annually plus benefits

SUMMARY

The Associate Director of Marketing is responsible for the successful planning, development, implementation and management of all marketing and public relations for the Museum. Reporting to the Vice President of Development, the Associate Director of Marketing serves as a key team member, as an active participant in the strategic marketing decisions affecting the museum, and manages the Museum’s efforts to secure strategic public relations and marketing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

§ Create and implement a comprehensive marketing and public relations program.

§ Responsible for strategic marketing efforts to attract new members.

§ Develop an integrated marketing plan utilizing digital and traditional means to increase attendance and to build awareness of the Museum’s outstanding programs and exhibitions.

§ Supervise a strong public relations program to keep members and target audiences aware of museum exhibitions and programs through the use of branded communications, including but not limited to: press relations, advertisements, banners/flyers, quarterly Passport newsletter, ongoing e-blasts, website, and social media.

§ Supervise the development and production of marketing materials. Oversee the implementation by staff and/or interns of such materials to enhance the Museum’s image and effectively reach the fiscal goals.

§ Pursue and maintain close relationships with key media, keep them informed of Museum’s activities, cultivate features.

§ Work with Vice President of Development and CFO annually to develop the fiscal budget for the Marketing Department.

§ Attract, train and oversee a select group of interns to support marketing and public relations for the Museum.

§ Other duties as assigned.

§ Conduct all responsibilities in a safe manner according to regulations (OSHA, IIPP, etc.)

§ Manage relevant marketing staff

QUALIFICATIONS

B.A degree in marketing or equivalent field is required; plus minimum of five years marketing experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
