The Memory Care Director oversees all aspects of resident care on the Memory Care side of the community, supervises care staff, and collaborates with other departments to maintain a safe, nurturing environment. As this role is resident-, vendor-, and employee-facing, it requires strong communication skills and the ability to manage a variety of personalities with professionalism and sound judgment.

General Responsibilities Overview:
Daily:
- Checking GroupMe: Monitor GroupMe communication channels for updates and notifications.
- Scanning and Groupings: Ensure completion of all groupings and that reception has uploaded them into the Dropbox folder. If any are missing, they must be located and uploaded.
- Caregiver Shift Assignments: Make Caregiver shift assignments and ensure that assigned duties are completed in a satisfactory manner.
- Monitors performance of caregivers for compliance with established policies and procedures and to ensure quality resident care.
- Understands and ensures compliance with all state (Title 22) regulations concerning the memory care department.
- Oversees day-to-day function of the Memory Care Unit including resident wellness and staff supervision.
- Work directly with residents to evaluate needs and services to accurately assess, communicate, and document resident status.
- Maintain stimulating life enrichment activity programs that empower, maintain, and support individual preferences and abilities.
- Respond to resident/family concerns and complaints in a professional and caring manner. Elevate issues to your supervisor when appropriate.
- Conducts interviews, orientation, and ongoing training of Memory Care Team employees in accordance with employee training policy and regulatory guidelines.
- Ability to work weekends, evenings, and flexible hours as needed for resident care/services, including 24/7 on-call responsibility.
As Needed:
- LIC602s – Continuously ensure all LIC602 forms are up to date.
- Incident Reports: Handle incident reports promptly, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up.
Qualifications:
- 2 years prior experience working with and managing a care staff providing care to geriatric residents with dementia, mild cognitive impairment, or Alzheimer’s.
- A clear DOJ fingerprint background check without criminal exemptions prior to start of employment.
- Proven strategies for programming that will enhance the psychosocial well-being of this population of residents.
- A compassionate heart for the residents and families affected by this disease process.
- A proactive approach to resolving family concerns and implementing solutions in consultation with the Resident Care Director.
- A willingness to engage and motivate staff in ongoing training to continually grow knowledge and innovate interventions to improve the lives of those under our care.
- The ability to establish and maintain records of care provided, then monitor changes that might negatively affect resident well-being, and take decisive action to engage resources to improve residents’ well-being.
- A willingness to work beyond the regular work week if needed.
- First Aid and CPR Certification.
- Must successfully complete medication management training. Must be available to work flexible hours due to demands of position.
- Be able to perform the physical requirements of the job. Good physical health, verified by a health screening, including a chest X-ray or an intradermal test result not more than 6 months prior or within seven (7) days after employment.
- Must pass a criminal background clearance before beginning work.
- Must have COVID vaccination or be willing to obtain prior to job start.
Essential Job Functions:
Supervisory/Management
- Assume the role of Manager on Duty during assigned shifts in the absence of the Administrator or Health Services Director (HSD).
- Address family member and visitor concerns or complaints, meticulously documenting issues and resolutions through appropriate reporting channels.
- Oversee minor physical plant issues during shifts, promptly reporting any significant concerns to the Maintenance Director and Administrator.
- Monitor caregiver performance to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures and to uphold high standards of resident care.
- Identify and report caregiver performance issues to the HSD or Administrator, providing input for caregiver performance evaluations.
- Coordinate shift coverage in the event of staff absences, ensuring continuity of care.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate care staff to maintain adherence to policies, procedures, and resident care plans.
- Conduct regular staff meetings, training sessions, and performance evaluations to sustain a superior standard of care.
- Manage scheduling and staffing duties as required, ensuring compliance with state regulations, licensing requirements, and industry standards related to resident care.
Resident Care
- Facilitate communication with family members, physicians, and external healthcare providers, including hospice, wound care, PT, OT, and pharmacy services.
- Collaborate with residents, families, physicians, and healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive care plans.
- Exercise independent judgment in responding to resident emergencies, contacting emergency services or physicians as needed.
- Document observations, concerns, changes in resident conditions, incidents, and accidents, ensuring follow-up documentation until resolution.
- Report observations, concerns, and changes in resident condition to the Health Services Director (HSD) or Administrator.
- Communicate resident needs and concerns to family members and physicians.
- Record and implement physician orders, ensuring compliance with appropriate procedures.
- Ensure that interventions recorded on resident service plans are carried out by caregivers.
- Receive reports from caregivers before the end of each shift.
- Monitor the daily care of all residents and ensure that groupings are scanned and uploaded into Dropbox for documentation.
Staffing/Scheduling
- Develop staffing patterns and schedules for caregivers, adjusting as needed to maintain adequate coverage.
- Collaborate with human resources to address staffing needs, terminations, and other employment-related matters.
- Participate in in-service training sessions to enhance staff skills and knowledge.
- Assist in securing staff for absences, leaves, etc., adjusting schedules as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of vacations, sick leave, leaves of absence, holidays, and absences, recommending appropriate actions.
- Assist in enforcing the facility's uniform policy.
- Coordinate with the Health Services Director to schedule training classes for staff.
Other
- All other duties as assigned by HSD or Administrator.
- Monitor group communication messaging apps with staff.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
· Working Knowledge of computers, including Excel, Word, and MS Office
· Knowledge of nursing specialties, opportunities, and qualification.
· Must possess sensitivity in understanding employees’ needs while maintaining a sense of balance to ensure that staffing/scheduling requirements are met for the facility.
· Ability to represent the facility in a positive and professional manner.
· Must be able to work effectively in an individual or team setting.

Working Conditions (travel, hours, environment):
· Full-time position, requiring on-site presence during regular business hours.
