Full Job Description

Position Overview:

The Talent & Onboarding Specialist is responsible for attracting, recruiting, hiring, and onboarding qualified CDL and non-CDL drivers and operational support staff. This role serves as a key partner to operations leadership, ensuring staffing goals are met while delivering an exceptional candidate and new-hire experience. The specialist manages the full recruitment lifecycle, coordinates onboarding activities, supports retention initiatives, and helps maintain compliance with DOT, company, and regulatory requirements. Fluency in Spanish, oral and written, is a requirement

Core Responsibilities:

· Manage full-cycle recruiting for CDL and non-CDL driver roles and operational support staff.

· Post positions, source and engage candidates via job boards, social media, referrals, and outreach

· Screen candidates for qualifications, safety standards, and DOT compliance via phone or in person

· Initiate and oversee pre-employment checks including drug screens, Clearinghouse, MVRs, and any other relevant verifications.

· Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, including paperwork, digital and physical, ensuring a smooth transition into the organization and ensuring a positive experience for new hires, providing guidance and support during their first days at the company.

· Create and maintain accurate and up-to-date employee files, both digital and physical, including CDL driver files.

· Ensure proper filing of confidential employee documents and records, in line with company policies and legal requirements.

· Respond to employment verifications and child support inquires.

· Answering employee inquiries related to HR policies and procedures.

· Conduct exit interviews, analyze turnover trends, and provide reports with insights and recommendations to support employee retention and organizational improvement.

· Help communicate company policies and practices effectively to employees.

· Perform general administrative tasks to support HR and operations

· Special projects as needed

Skills and Qualifications:

· Bilingual (English/Spanish) required

· 2+ years of recruiting or talent acquisition experience

· High-volume hiring experience required; CDL or transportation recruiting preferred

· Strong understanding of DOT and CDL driver requirements (or ability to learn quickly)

· Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills

· Ability to meet hiring targets in a fast-paced environment

· Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).

· Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

· Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

· Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience recruiting in waste management, trucking, or logistics industries
Knowledge of FMCSA regulations and driver qualification standards
Experience onboarding CDL drivers and managing compliance documentation

Working Conditions:
