Full Job Description

Essential Duties

· Plan and develop group content and provide a safe and positive environment in the milieu.
· Oversee or facilitate the individual client participation and collaborate with Therapist regarding progress and treatment plan goals.
· Provide direction and assistance in supervising residents in crisis intervention, emergency and conflict situation, which may include physical management and/or de-escalation. Debrief with staff and residents after such intervention.
· Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards clients
· Develop client treatment plans based on research, clinical experience, and client histories.
· Conduct chemical dependency program orientation sessions.
· Participate in case conferences or staff meetings.
· Coordinate counseling efforts with mental health professionals or other health professionals, such as doctors, nurses, or social workers.
· Review and evaluate clients' progress in relation to measurable goals described in treatment and care plans.
· Interview clients, review records, and confer with other professionals to evaluate individuals' mental and physical condition and to determine their suitability for participation in a specific program.
· Plan or implement follow-up or aftercare programs for clients to be discharged from treatment programs.
· When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints.
Counsels clients individually and in group sessions to assist client in overcoming alcohol and drug dependency.
Counsels family members to assist family in dealing with and providing support for client.
Refers client to other support services as needed such as medical evaluation and treatment, social services, and employment services.
Monitors condition of client to evaluate success of therapy, and adapts treatment as needed.
Prepares and maintains reports and case histories.
Formulates and conducts programs to promote prevention of alcohol and drug abuse.

Requirements:
-High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid licensure or certification as a counselor
- one year experience in substnace abuse treatment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations

Current CPR certification
