Full Job Description

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Support Technician plays a critical role in supporting production operations throughout the manufacturing process. This position assists in the Weld Shop, with machining, and also painting while ensuring efficient material flow, inventory accuracy, and shipping/receiving operations. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role requires strong attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.

Duties

Read and understand manufacturing drawings and Work Orders.
Assemble all the necessary components in accordance with the given specs, Work Orders, and Pick Tickets.
At times, assist with fabrication and finish welding to support production.
Utilize plasma cutting equipment, welders, grinders, lathes, CNC machines, and drills to complete assigned work as required by production orders.
Assist with the palletizing and shipping of finished product.
Assist with the material prep and staging of parts for upcoming orders.
Conduct quality checks using tools such as micrometers, ID mics, and tape measures to ensure adherence to specifications.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
Collaborate with team members to meet production deadlines and project goals.
Assist welders with material preparation, parts handling, fixture setup, and movement of completed assemblies.
Support machinists by transporting materials, loading and unloading parts, and maintaining a clean and organized work area.
Assist painters with surface preparation, painting, staging, and the movement of product before and after painting.
Operate various hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Ensure production materials and components are available to manufacturing personnel when needed.
Maintain housekeeping standards throughout the facility.

Skills

Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
Familiarity with chop saws, angle grinders, and miscellaneous shop tools.
Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to welding tasks.
Experience with plasma cutting and generalized metal work.
Experience with CNC and manual machining practices.
Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Required

High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environment.
Experience in welding, machining, painting, and/or heavy manufacturing environments.
Ability to safely operate a forklift or willingness to obtain forklift certification.
Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions and shipping documentation.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
Ability to safely operate forklifts and material handling equipment.

Preferred

Forklift certification.
Experience with inventory management systems.
Knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures.
