Engineering Data Technician

Location: Austin, TX (On-site)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM (Overtime may be available)
Employment Type: Approximately 6-month contract
Pay Rate: $25.00–$30.00 per hour

Position Overview

We are seeking an Engineering Data Technician to support engineering and operations teams with data management, reporting, system updates, and workflow coordination.

This position is ideal for a technically minded professional who enjoys working with data, systems, and engineering processes. The Engineering Data Technician will maintain data accuracy, support reporting needs, validate information across multiple systems, and assist with product and operational data management.

This is not a senior-level Data Engineer position. We are looking for someone with strong technical aptitude, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to quickly learn engineering workflows and internal systems.

Key Responsibilities

Enter, update, and maintain engineering and operational data across multiple systems and databases.
Ensure product, engineering, and operational information is accurate, complete, and properly documented.
Review and validate data for accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
Reconcile records and identify missing, duplicate, or inconsistent information.
Create and maintain reports, spreadsheets, and dashboards for engineering and operations teams.
Track and manage technical information throughout the product lifecycle.
Assist with data related to product configurations, packaging designs, and technical documentation.
Collaborate with engineering, operations, logistics, and other teams to resolve routine data and system issues.
Support process-improvement initiatives that increase efficiency and data quality.
Document data changes, system updates, and completed tasks.
Learn and navigate multiple enterprise systems and technical platforms.
Provide additional engineering and data-management support as needed.

Required Qualifications

Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field.
One to three years of experience with data management, technical systems, engineering support, manufacturing operations, or a similar environment.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, filtering, reporting, and data organization.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
Ability to understand technical documentation, engineering terminology, and structured workflows.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable working on-site and collaborating with technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting engineering, manufacturing, semiconductor, logistics, or supply-chain operations.
Familiarity with engineering documentation, product data, packaging designs, or technical workflows.
Experience with ERP systems, SAP, or enterprise databases.
Basic SQL and database-reporting knowledge.
Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting tools.
Exposure to Python, JavaScript, or automation tools.
Familiarity with Snowflake, AWS, or other cloud-based business systems.
Experience with data validation, reconciliation, reporting, or process-improvement projects.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically curious, and comfortable working with data in an engineering environment. They understand the importance of data accuracy, learn new systems quickly, and enjoy supporting technical teams through effective data management and reporting.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
