Full Job Description

Position Summary:

Austin Hardwoods – located in Denver, Colorado – has been family-owned since 1979. We provide manufacturing services and a variety of forest products to wholesale, commercial, and retail customers, including hardwood lumber, plywood, custom hardwood millwork, mouldings, glued panels, and woodworking tools. We are 60+ team members strong and growing. Our retail environment is dynamic, fast-paced, energetic, and customer-focused. Our mission is to be on the forefront of our industry by providing first-class products and services to our customers.

We are currently looking for a team-oriented, self-motivated Outside Sales Representative candidate. Our proactive training program is designed to expedite your understanding of our company, products, systems, and procedures to ensure a successful and fulfilling career experience. Any experience in sales, especially within the forest products industry, is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage an assigned sales territory by regularly visiting contractors, retailers, distributors, and other wholesale customers
Develop and execute territory sales plans to increase market share and revenue
Identify new business opportunities and expand existing customer relationships
Build and maintain long-term relationships with customers through exceptional service and regular communication
Identify, qualify, and pursue prospective customers through networking, referrals, cold calling, and other lead generation efforts
Follow up on sales leads and schedule customer meetings and presentations
Develop a thorough understanding of the company’s products, applications, and competitive advantages
Conduct product presentations and sell wholesale products, negotiate contracts, and close deals to meet or exceed sales targets
Monitor customer purchasing trends and identify opportunities for account growth, provide solutions for service concerns, and assist with credit applications
Partner with distributor representatives to ensure product availability and customer support
Work closely with inside sales, operations, marketing, and supply chain teams to provide seamless customer service

Qualifications & Requirements:

Bachelor's in business, sales, marketing, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Previous outside sales experience in business to business (B2B) environment preferred
Experience in wholesale distribution, hardwood lumber, building materials, industrial products, or related industries is a plus
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Strong relationship-building and customer service abilities
Proven sales, negotiation, and closing skills
Ability to identify customer needs and recommend effective solutions
Strong organizational, time management, and territory planning skills
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
Proficient with Microsoft Office and CRM software

Travel Requirements:

Requires the candidate to be in the local territory, spending approximately 60–80% of their time making customer visits and building relationships in the field.
Use of company-provided sales vehicle for business travel
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and company insurance eligibility requirements

Compensation & Benefits:

Competitive base salary of $50,000-$85,000 based on experience and qualifications
Commission program based on gross profit performance
