Full Job Description

On-call English-Spanish Translator/Interpreter

Position Description: This is an in-person, on call position in a role that will provide essential, professional translation and interpretation services. This role extends to translating/interpreting during meetings, trainings, orientations, documents, and facilitation of orientations and trainings in Spanish with an emphasis on safety.

Pay Rate: $22.65 per hour

Hours: On-Call, in person–hours not guaranteed

Schedule: This is an as needed, part time essential services position with work contingent upon available projects. When assigned to a project, linguists are expected to support the effort through completion and are typically scheduled to work up to 40 hours per week. Assignments may require day and/or night shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Benefits: Employee Assistance Program and accrued paid sick leave. Upon qualifying, eligible 401k + matching.

Location: Multiple facilities in Chehalis, WA

Specific Job Tasks: including, but not limited to:

· Provide accurate interpretation during meetings, trainings, and orientations

· Facilitation of orientations and trainings in Spanish

· Provide accurate translation on documents

· Facilitate communication

· Maintain confidentiality on all matters related to the position and the organization

· Assist with employee requests regarding policies and schedules

· Assist with resolving employee concerns and communicating information to employees

· Answering general questions regarding employment, records, and status

· Learn and comply with company standards and operating procedures

· Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

· Prior interpreting experience

· High school diploma or GED required

· Verbal and written fluency in English and Spanish (academic/professional level)

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Excellent interpersonal skills

· Strong attention to detail and time management skills

· Ability to speak in front of a large group of people, potentially 75+ at a time

· Ability to work under tight deadlines, with flexibility

· Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality

· Ability to multitask as well as manage changing priorities

· Access to reliable transportation required

· Must be located in or near the Chehalis, Washington area

· Willingness to travel locally for assignments

· 18+ years old

· Authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Prior knowledge of work is safety is not required, but preferred

· 1 + year(s) of professional translation and interpretation services OR equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

· Proficiency in MS Office Suites including: Word, Excel and PowerPoint
