Full Job Description

Company Description: Tier Power Systems designs and manufactures custom low-voltage switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, industrial control panels, and electrical enclosures that support mission-critical power infrastructure. We combine technical expertise and industry experience to manufacture low voltage to medium voltage switchgear systems integrated with advanced control solutions.

Job Summary: The Junior Buyer supports the procurement of materials, components, and services necessary to manufacture power distribution equipment including switchgear, switchboards, motor control centers (MCCs), panelboards, and related assemblies. This position is responsible for processing purchase orders, maintaining supplier relationships, monitoring inventory levels, expediting deliveries, and ensuring materials are available to support production schedules while meeting company quality, cost, and delivery objectives.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to develop purchasing and supply chain expertise within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

Create and process purchase orders for production materials, indirect supplies, and services.
Review Material Requirements Planning (MRP) recommendations and convert requirements into purchase orders.
Maintain accurate purchasing records within the ERP/MRP system.
Monitor supplier acknowledgments and confirm pricing, quantities, and delivery dates.
Expedite material deliveries to support production schedules and customer commitments.
Work closely with Production Planning, Manufacturing, Inventory Control, and Warehouse personnel to ensure material availability.
Resolve purchasing discrepancies including shortages, damaged shipments, invoice issues, and non-conforming materials.
Assist with identifying alternate suppliers and sourcing opportunities.
Maintain supplier documentation including certifications, insurance, W-9s, and compliance records.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on procurement efficiency and cost reduction.
Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies and ethical sourcing standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required

High school diploma or GED required.
1–3 years of purchasing, procurement, inventory, customer service, or manufacturing experience preferred.
Experience in a manufacturing environment.
Basic understanding of purchasing principles and supply chain operations.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Experience with ERP/MRP systems is required. Epicor preferred.
Knowledge of manufacturing bills of material (BOMs) and shop floor control.

Preferred

Associate degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
Experience purchasing electrical or mechanical components.
Understanding of inventory management principles.
Exposure to Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
Experience within planning production, or expedition in manufacturing industries.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Primarily office environment with frequent interaction on the manufacturing floor.
Occasional exposure to noise, moving equipment, and warehouse operations.
May occasionally visit supplier facilities or attend vendor meetings.
