Full Job Description

PROVIDENCE BAPTIST CHURCH is looking for a highly motivated Prep-Cook. The Prep-Cook works closely with our child development center and all church functions. The prep cook will be responsible for setting up workstations in the kitchen and preparing ingredients for the cooking process. The prep cook is required to perform basic cooking duties, monitor stock levels, and take on culinary tasks as they arise. Prep cooks should understand and be willing to comply with food and sanitation guidelines and regulations, be quick and diligent, and be willing to improve on the job. A top-notch prep cook should be able to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
Cook food on a gas or electric grill or in the oven, stove or skillet, including checking food quality and quantity
Ensure food is placed on plates so customers can experience the experience of food preparation, which will help you find the right recipe for your next meal.
Ensure great presentation by choosing and using the right ingredients and cooking techniques
Check food quality and quantity before, during and after cooking to ensure high quality standards are met
Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
Preparation and delivery of food daily to Child Development Center
Perform other tasks as assigned by the Church Hospitality manager/chef, such as washing dishes, preparing more complicated dishes or serving meals

Requirements

Proven experience as prep cook or line cook is advantegeous
Knowledge of different types of dishes and cooking methods is advantageous
Ability to follow instructions as a professional while remaining efficient and focused in completing assigned tasks
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment (food preparation, cleaning etc.)
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Maintaining a positive attitude towards church members, ministry and guests
Flexibility to work days, evenings, Must be available to work Wednesday night supper, and some occasional weekends
High school diploma or equivalent;

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
