Build Your Accounting Career With a Firm That Will Invest in Your Development
Diverse Community Partners, Inc. is seeking an accounting professional who brings a solid foundation in bookkeeping, takes ownership of their work, and wants the opportunity to continue developing professionally.
We are a growing firm, and we are interested in finding someone who wants more than a short-term position. Our ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, willing to learn, and interested in becoming an important part of our team over time.
You do not need to arrive knowing every aspect of our business. We will teach you our internal processes, client procedures, software workflows, and expectations. What we do need is an honest understanding of the accounting skills and experience you already have.
If your background is strong in some areas but you are still developing in others, we encourage you to apply. We are open to candidates at different experience levels, provided they have a genuine bookkeeping/accounting foundation and can demonstrate the skills they claim to possess.
What You'll Be Doing
This role involves hands-on accounting work and is not primarily a data-entry position.
Diverse Community Partners, Inc. provides full-cycle accounting services to businesses. The person joining our team should understand that bookkeeping is more than entering transactions into accounting software. Transactions must be recorded correctly, accounts must reconcile, and the completed work must ultimately produce reliable financial statements.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Recording, posting, and properly classifying financial transactions
- Reconciling bank and credit card accounts
- Investigating differences and correcting accounting discrepancies
- Reviewing general ledger activity
- Supporting Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
- Applying debits and credits correctly
- Reviewing Balance Sheets and Income Statements
- Recognizing how transactions affect financial statement accounts
- Working with records for different types of business entities, including LLCs and corporations
- Assisting with monthly and year-end accounting procedures
- Preparing accounting records that support business tax preparation
- Learning additional accounting and tax-related responsibilities as your skills develop
We are a smaller firm, which means the quality of each person's work has a direct impact on our clients and the rest of the team. Accuracy, follow-through, communication, good judgment, and personal accountability are important in this position.
What We're Looking For
Candidates should generally bring:
- At least 2 years of practical bookkeeping and/or accounting experience
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks, Xero, or similar accounting software
- Experience actually posting transactions and completing bank and/or credit card reconciliations
- Accounting experience that extends beyond basic AP/AR entry
- An understanding of debits and credits
- Familiarity with assets, liabilities, revenue, and expenses
- The ability to understand and review Balance Sheets and Income Statements
- Good computer skills and confidence learning unfamiliar software
- Strong organizational and time-management habits
- Careful attention to detail
- Dependability and consistent follow-through
- The ability to work independently once properly trained
- A willingness to ask appropriate questions and continue learning
You Don't Need to Check Every Box
We recognize that accounting professionals develop their skills in different ways.
One candidate may be very comfortable with reconciliations and general ledger work but have little tax experience. Another may have several years of QuickBooks experience but still need additional training in certain areas of full-cycle accounting.
That does not automatically disqualify you.
What matters to us is that you accurately represent your experience. We would much rather meet someone who can clearly say, "I know this well, I have some experience with this, and I still need training in this area" than someone who feels they must claim expertise they do not yet have.
Skills can be developed. Honesty, accountability, and the willingness to put effort into learning are equally important to us.
Opportunity to Learn Tax Preparation
Diverse Community Partners, Inc. also provides income tax preparation services.
Previous tax preparation experience is helpful, but it is not required for this position.
Because properly maintained books and accurate financial statements are essential to business tax returns, we value candidates who understand the connection between accounting and taxation.
A team member who demonstrates a strong accounting foundation, good judgment, accuracy, and the ability to learn may have opportunities to receive additional training and exposure to tax preparation.
Compensation and Professional Growth
Compensation will be based on the level of accounting knowledge, practical experience, and demonstrated ability you bring to the position.
We understand that two candidates with the same number of years in bookkeeping may have very different skill levels. For that reason, we consider what you can actually perform independently—not simply the number of years listed on your résumé.
A candidate who needs additional training may be considered at a developmental compensation level. As you demonstrate greater accounting knowledge, accuracy, efficiency, independence, and the ability to take on additional responsibilities, there is room for both professional and compensation growth.
Our approach is straightforward: increased capability should lead to increased opportunity.
We will provide training and guidance, but professional development is a partnership. We expect team members to take an active role in improving their own skills as well.
You May Be a Strong Fit If You...
- Care about getting the numbers right
- Take responsibility for the quality of your work
- Want to understand why an accounting entry is made rather than simply being told where to enter it
- Are comfortable asking questions when you truly need clarification
- Apply feedback and work to avoid repeating errors
- Can manage your responsibilities without constant supervision after training
- Pay attention to details that others may overlook
- Want your performance to be evaluated based on the quality and consistency of your work
- Are interested in expanding your accounting knowledge
- Appreciate working with a smaller company where individual contributions matter
- Are looking for an organization where you can build a longer-term professional future
Diverse Community Partners, Inc. values and respects people from all backgrounds. Diversity is not simply part of our company name; it is part of the philosophy behind our organization.
Think You Might Be Qualified, But You're Not Certain?
Apply anyway.
We don't expect every qualified applicant to be equally strong in every area.
When applying, help us understand where you are professionally. We are especially interested in learning:
- How many years you have worked directly in bookkeeping or accounting
- Which accounting programs you have used, including QuickBooks and/or Xero
- Whether you have personally completed bank and credit card reconciliations
- How comfortable you are working with debits and credits
- Whether you have experience reviewing Balance Sheets and Income Statements
- Whether you have any tax preparation or tax-related experience
- Which accounting responsibilities you can currently handle confidently
- Which areas you would like additional training in
There is no advantage in overstating your abilities. We are interested in finding the right person and determining where that person can begin, what training may be needed, and how they can grow from there.
If you have a legitimate accounting or bookkeeping foundation, take pride in your work, and are looking for an opportunity to continue building your skills, we would be pleased to consider your application.
We look forward to learning more about you and exploring whether Diverse Community Partners, Inc. could be the right place for the next stage of your professional growth.
Warm regards,
Ms. Joyce
