The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing all day-shift warehouse operations within a refrigerated storage environment. This role ensures safe, efficient, accurate, and compliant handling of temperature-controlled products while leading warehouse staff to meet productivity, quality, and customer service expectations.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
- Work a rotating weekend schedule as assigned to ensure continuous warehouse operations.
- Adjust staffing plans to provide adequate weekend and holiday coverage.
- Serve as the primary management point of contact during assigned weekend shifts.
- Manage daily warehouse operations including receiving, put-away, storage, picking, packing, loading, and shipping of refrigerated and frozen products.
- Ensure strict adherence to temperature control requirements and cold-chain integrity.
- Coordinate workflow and staffing to meet volume demands and delivery schedules.
- Monitor inventory accuracy and product rotation (FIFO/FEFO).
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure seamless operations.
Safety, Compliance & Quality
- Enforce OSHA, FDA, USDA, GMP, HACCP, and company standards.
- Conduct safety audits, temperature checks, and inspections.
- Lead incident investigations and corrective actions.
- Ensure PPE and cold-storage safety compliance.
Leadership & People Management
- Supervise supervisors, leads, and hourly associates.
- Hire, train, coach, and evaluate staff.
- Address performance and disciplinary matters.
- Promote accountability and teamwork.
Equipment & Facility Oversight
- Oversee material handling equipment and refrigeration systems.
- Coordinate maintenance and vendor services.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Track KPIs including inventory shrink, picking accuracy, safety, and labor utilization.
- Implement process improvements.
Attendance & Inclement Weather Expectations
- This position is designated as an essential position.
- Attendance is required in accordance with the Company’s Inclement Weather Policy.
- The Warehouse Manager is expected to report to work during inclement weather when operations are open.
- Failure to meet attendance expectations may result in corrective action.
Qualifications & Experience
- 3+ years warehouse experience, preferably refrigerated.
- 3+ years management experience.
- Knowledge of cold-chain logistics and WMS preferred.
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Ability to work in refrigerated and freezer environments.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent standing, walking, and equipment operation.
