Job Title: Afterschool Coordinator & Office Assistant
Position Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

We are seeking an organized, collaborative, and nurturing Afterschool Coordinator & Office Assistant to support both the daily operations of our school and the coordination of our afterschool program. The ideal candidate is someone who values relationships, enjoys working with children and families, and is familiar with or inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to education.

This role combines administrative responsibilities with direct support of children and staff, helping create a welcoming school environment while ensuring smooth program operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Afterschool Program Coordination

Plan, organize, and oversee daily afterschool programming
Create engaging experiences that reflect children’s interests, inquiry, creativity, and play
Supervise children and maintain a safe, caring, and inclusive environment
Coordinate daily attendance, staffing schedules, and transitions
Communicate with families regarding schedules, program updates, and child experiences
Support enrichment activities, outdoor learning, and project-based experiences
Assist with materials preparation and maintaining inviting learning environments

Office & Administrative Support

Welcome families, visitors, and support school communication
Answer phones, emails, and general inquiries professionally
Manage attendance, student files, enrollment paperwork, and office records
Assist with registration, scheduling, billing support, and administrative systems
Support newsletters, family communications, and special events
Maintain organized office procedures and calendars
Collaborate with leadership on operational and administrative projects

Reggio Emilia Philosophy & Educational Approach

Preferred candidates will demonstrate familiarity with:

Child-led and inquiry-based learning
Documentation as a tool for reflection and communication
Building strong relationships with children, families, and colleagues
Viewing the environment as an important part of the learning experience (“the third teacher”)
Supporting children’s curiosity, creativity, and emerging interests

Qualifications

Experience working with children in an educational, childcare, camp, or afterschool setting
Administrative or office experience preferred
Familiarity with the Reggio Emilia philosophy strongly preferred
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail
Comfortable using email, Google Workspace, and school management systems
Collaborative, flexible, and solution-oriented
EEC qualifications preferred (if applicable)
