Job Description for

PROGRAM COORDINATOR

General Description

The Program Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, coaching and support of all volunteer and case activity. The Program Coordinator will develop and maintain professional relationships with all interested parties including the judge, the court staff, the lawyers, the volunteers and the state and community agencies.

Qualifications

A Program Coordinator should have the following skills and experience:

· A bachelor’s degree is required, a Master’s Degree is preferred.

· Experience in advocacy, children’s rights, the state Child Welfare organization or the court system, as well as experience coordinating and facilitating training

· The ability to communicate with, coach, and empower volunteers to be effective in their roles.

· Possess strong computer skills and attention to detail with the ability to accurately enter, track, and maintain data.

· Experience working with volunteers is preferred

· The ability to work cooperatively with different types of personalities, demonstrating a cooperate and positive attitude when working with diverse personalities and perspectives

· Knowledge and understanding of issues and dynamics within families in crisis relating to child abuse and neglect given preference.

· Commitment to CASA of Atlantic, Cape May, and Camden Counties goals and mission

· Organizational skills and strong written and oral communication skills

Accountability

The Program Coordinator is hired by the Executive Director of the program. The Program Coordinator will report directly to a program manager and/or Director of Program Services who will be responsible for his/her performance evaluations.

Responsibilities

A. Case Activity

1. Investigate case files to select and initiate orders for case assignment

2. Respond to orders when assigned by Judge or any interested party

3. Match CASA case with appropriate volunteer

4. Keep necessary records as described by our record management procedures both on paper and in Optima.

5. Attend court hearings and Child Placement Review Board (CPRB)Hearings when appropriate

B. Volunteer Support

1. Support & coach volunteers by providing assistance and consultation to ensure that children involved with the CASA program receive sound advocacy and early permanency planning.

2. Make a minimum of a monthly contact with each volunteer advocate and bi-weekly contact with each Peer Coach

3. Keep necessary and appropriate volunteer case records in accordance with our record management procedures

4. Accompany volunteers to court, meetings, and visitations when appropriate

C. Volunteer Training

1. Assist with volunteer recruiting, screening, and interviewing

2. Assist with development and compilation of training materials

3. Assist with training of volunteers and be prepared to critique volunteers throughout training

4. Assist with securing guest speakers for CASA In-Services and attend all in-services possible

D. Program Activities

1. Attend all available conferences and workshops for the development of programs for volunteers

2. Assist in orientation of new staff, interns, volunteer office help

3. Participate in staff meetings

4. Assist in volunteer appreciation events and all program events

5. Offer constructive feedback to improvements and advancements for the CASA Organization
