Full Job Description

There is no team to lean on — you are the marketing department.

You'll document the systems you build so they're repeatable and maintainable. This role executes against a clearly defined brand vision and priorities set by ownership — this is not a role for someone looking to redefine our strategy or brand. Within that direction, you'll have full latitude on how the work gets done: how you build the CRM, design the funnel logic, and run day-to-day execution are yours to own.

This role starts as a one-person department. As Detroit Gun Works grows, there may be an opportunity to build and lead a small team executing the systems you've put in place — for example, a future inside sales hire reporting to this role.

You'll be our dedicated marketing hire, you own that whole arc and everything else under "marketing" as we grow: demo/range event logistics (our outside sales team runs the demos themselves — you make sure the right people, product, and materials are in the right place at the right time), merchandise and event ordering, inside sales and client outreach, and building out the CRM and automated sales funnel.

As a rifle company, the single most important thing we can do for our military and law enforcement customers is let them test our products themselves in controlled, professional environments — and then follow up with them quickly and well.

This is a fast-paced, fast-growing environment, and budget management is essential to this role: you will plan, track, and adjust marketing spend as priorities shift, while maintaining close, careful oversight of every purchase.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

*Run the entire marketing function solo, from strategy execution down to ordering merchandise and event supplies. There is no team to delegate to.

*Budget Management (Essential): Plan, track, and manage marketing spend within an approved budget in a fast-paced environment, with close oversight of every purchase and sound tradeoffs as priorities shift.

*Demo & Range Event Coordination: Plan and coordinate logistics for demo/range events — venues, scheduling, product/materials transport, and setup. Our outside sales team runs the demonstrations themselves. Also, attend these events.

*Inside Sales & Client Outreach: Act as our inside sales rep — respond to inbound leads, conduct outbound outreach, qualify leads, and partner with our outside sales rep to convert interest into customers. Track leads and report to management.

*CRM Development & Management: Build out, own, and continuously improve our CRM — tracking leads, prospects, outreach history, and pipeline status.

*Automated Sales Funnel: Design and manage an automated funnel that segments website leads by action taken and triggers differentiated follow-up sequences. (We'll train you on our preferred approach — you take it from there.)

*Systems Documentation: Maintain clear, complete documentation for the CRM, funnel logic, and automated sequences so systems are transparent and maintainable.

*Relationship Building: Cultivate relationships with military and law enforcement contacts, procurement offices, and trade groups to generate a steady demo pipeline.

*Brand & Content: Own our day-to-day brand presence — social media, website updates, and event photography/video.

QUALIFIED CANDIDATES MUST HAVE:

- Proven Budget Management (Essential): Experience owning a budget in a fast-paced environment — tracking spend closely, making sound tradeoffs, and staying within approved limits. Not a nice-to-have.

- The "Founding Marketer" Mindset: A proactive, self-sufficient spirit paired with the ability to execute against someone else's clearly defined vision rather than set your own strategy. You don't need a team, or ownership of big-picture direction, to get things done well.

- 3+ years in marketing, inside sales, or sales support, ideally in firearms, tactical, defense, or law enforcement-adjacent industries

- Comfort and confidence with phone- and email-based inside sales outreach

- Strong process-documentation skills

- Comfort coordinating logistics around firearms (you will not personally run demonstrations)

- Ability to travel regularly for demo events and trade shows

- Strong project management skills — able to run multiple events, relationships, and systems at once

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check; valid driver's license with a clean record

- Preferred, not required: hands-on CRM experience (HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar) and marketing automation/email-workflow experience. We'll train the right candidate on our approach — what matters most is the ability to learn it, then build, document, and run it independently.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
