Part-Time Nanny/Family Assistant | Two Boys (Ages 7 & 9) | McLean, VA

Location: McLean, VA
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 12:00 PM–6:00 PM (30 hours/week)
Start Date: August 24 or sooner

About the Opportunity

A warm, busy professional family in McLean is seeking an experienced Part-Time Nanny/Family Assistant to support their household and care for their two boys, ages 7 and 9. Both parents are attorneys with demanding careers and are looking for a dependable, organized professional who enjoys creating structure, keeping a household running smoothly, and building meaningful relationships with children.

This position is ideal for someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and equally comfortable managing household responsibilities during school hours and transitioning into an engaging nanny role each afternoon. The family is looking for someone who will become a trusted, long-term member of their household. Please note candidates should be pet friendly and have a clean driving record.

Position ResponsibilitiesFamily Assistant Duties (12:00 PM–3:00 PM)

While the children are at school, responsibilities include:

Family laundry, including washing, folding, and putting clothing away
Grocery shopping and household errands
Maintaining household inventory and ensuring household essentials remain fully stocked
Organizing closets, pantry spaces, and other household storage areas
Meal preparation for the family
General household organization to help keep the home running efficiently
Caring for the family's 3-month-old Golden Retriever puppy, including taking the puppy outside, providing fresh food and water, and assisting with basic daily care

Nanny Duties (Beginning Around 3:00 PM)

Pick up the children from school (approximately 10 minutes from the family's home)
Safely transport the children to after-school sports, activities, and appointments
Help with homework and encourage positive study habits
Plan engaging, active afternoons with plenty of outdoor play
Maintain the children's schedules and stay on top of extracurricular activities
Provide warm, attentive care while encouraging confidence, independence, and kindness
Follow established allergy protocols for one child with a severe peanut allergy, including being prepared to administer an EpiPen in the event of an emergency

Warm, engaging, and genuinely enjoys spending time with school-aged children
Highly organized, proactive, and able to anticipate household needs
Active and enthusiastic about spending time outdoors
Dependable, punctual, and an excellent communicator
Comfortable balancing childcare with household management responsibilities
Pet-friendly and happy to help care for the family's friendly Golden Retriever puppy
Calm, attentive, and confident managing food allergies and child safety
Interested in building a long-term relationship with the family

The boys adapt well to new caregivers, and the family is excited to welcome someone who will become a positive, dependable presence in their lives.

Requirements

Qualified candidates will possess:

Minimum of 5 years of professional household management or family assistant experience
Experience caring for school-aged children
Experience supporting busy households with household management responsibilities
Experience caring for children with food allergies is strongly preferred
Knowledge of and confidence using an EpiPen (or willingness to complete training before the start date)
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Have a personal vehicle
CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the start date)
Legal authorization to work in the United States
Ability to successfully pass a comprehensive background check
Clean driving record
Excellent professional and personal references
Comfortable working in a home with a young puppy
Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills
Professionalism, discretion, and respect for confidentiality in a private household

Schedule

Monday–Friday
12:00pm –6:00 PM
Guaranteed 30 hours per week
Ideal start date: August 24 or sooner

Compensation & Benefits

The family is offering a competitive compensation package based on experience, including:
