Full Job Description

SUMMARY

Tri County Economic Development District (TEDD) is a regional economic development organization serving Ferry, Stevens, and Pend Oreille Counties in Northeast Washington. TEDD works in partnership with local governments, businesses, tribes, state and federal agencies, nonprofit organizations, and community stakeholders to advance economic vitality, infrastructure development, tourism, recreation, transportation planning, broadband deployment, business finance, and regional resilience.

The Regional Marketing & Communications Director is responsible for leading TEDD’s regional marketing, tourism promotion, communications, stakeholder outreach, and destination development efforts. The position develops and implements marketing strategies that support regional economic development, tourism, recreation, community vitality, and organizational visibility. The Regional Marketing & Communications Director works collaboratively with local governments, chambers of commerce, tourism organizations, businesses, nonprofit organizations, recreation groups, and state and federal agencies to strengthen the region’s visitor economy and quality of life.

The Regional Marketing & Communications Director works under the supervision of the Executive Director and serves as a primary ambassador for Northeast Washington, promoting the region’s communities, recreation assets, businesses, and economic development opportunities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Develops and implements regional marketing, tourism, and communications strategies consistent with TEDD priorities and regional economic development goals.

· Develops annual work plans, marketing campaigns, and outreach initiatives supporting tourism, recreation, business development, and community engagement.

· Manages and maintains regional tourism and economic development websites, digital content platforms, and online marketing assets.

· Creates and distributes marketing materials including publications, brochures, advertisements, signage, photography, videos, newsletters, and other promotional content.

· Develops and manages social media content and digital marketing campaigns across multiple platforms.

· Produces written content including articles, itineraries, success stories, news releases, newsletters, presentations, and promotional materials.

· Coordinates TEDD communications, public information, and media relations activities.

· Develops marketing and outreach campaigns supporting TEDD programs, workshops, meetings, events, and special projects.

· Represents TEDD and the region at trade shows, conferences, community events, tourism activities, and economic development outreach efforts.

· Develops presentations and serves as a spokesperson for tourism, recreation, marketing, and economic development initiatives as assigned.

· Builds and maintains productive working relationships with local governments, chambers of commerce, businesses, nonprofit organizations, tourism entities, recreation organizations, media outlets, and partner agencies.

· Supports regional tourism, recreation, and destination development initiatives.

· Facilitates meetings, committees, working groups, and stakeholder engagement activities.

· Researches, prepares, and assists with grant applications supporting tourism, recreation, marketing, and economic development initiatives.

· Administers grant-funded projects and ensures compliance with grant requirements, reporting obligations, and funding agreements.

· Coordinates and administers county lodging tax contracts and related reporting requirements.

· Tracks project budgets, expenditures, deliverables, performance measures, and reporting requirements.

· Maintains regional branding standards and messaging across TEDD marketing initiatives.

· Produces photography, visual content, and digital assets showcasing Northeast Washington communities, landscapes, recreation opportunities, and economic development successes.

· Maintains marketing asset libraries, photography archives, and promotional materials inventories.

· Assists with TEDD special projects and performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, tourism, economic development, business administration, recreation management, or a related field preferred.

· Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, communications, tourism, economic development, destination development, public relations, project management, or a related field.

· Equivalent combinations of education and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.

· Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

· Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.

· Experience with website management, social media platforms, digital marketing tools, and content management systems.

· Experience with graphic design, photography, video production, or content creation preferred.

· Experience with grant writing and grant administration preferred.

· Experience working with local governments, nonprofit organizations, businesses, chambers of commerce, tourism organizations, or public agencies preferred.

· Knowledge of Northeast Washington communities, recreation assets, tourism opportunities, and economic development priorities preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REQUIREMENTS

· Must possess a valid Washington State driver’s license.

· Must provide proof of insurability.

· Must be able to travel regularly throughout Ferry, Stevens, and Pend Oreille Counties.

· Must be able to attend occasional evening and weekend meetings, events, conferences, and outreach activities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

· Regular use of computers, phones, cameras, and standard office equipment.

· Frequent sitting, standing, walking, speaking, and hearing.

· Occasional lifting and carrying of marketing materials, displays, equipment, or supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.

· Ability to travel to meetings, project sites, community events, and conferences throughout the region.

The work environment is primarily an office setting with frequent travel throughout the region and occasional attendance at evening meetings, conferences, trade shows, and public events.
