Full Job Description

Midwest Refuah Health Center is seeking a Radiologic Technologist / Medical Assistant to support both diagnostic imaging services and primary care operations. This hybrid role combines radiology responsibilities with direct patient care and clinical support duties. The ideal candidate will be a licensed Radiologic Technologist who enjoys working in a collaborative, patient-centered community health environment and is willing to support providers and patients throughout the continuum of care.

This position requires flexibility, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced Federally Qualified Health Center Look-Alike setting.

Radiology Responsibilities

Prepare patients for radiologic examinations and explain procedures to ensure patient comfort and understanding.
Perform diagnostic x-rays in accordance with physician orders and established radiologic standards.
Position patients appropriately and operate radiologic equipment safely and accurately.
Utilize radiation safety practices and protective equipment to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
Review images for quality and completeness prior to provider interpretation.
Maintain radiology equipment and report equipment concerns or malfunctions promptly.
Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and organizational radiology regulations and standards.
Document radiology services accurately within the electronic medical record.

Medical Assistant Responsibilities

Escort patients to examination rooms and obtain vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, height, and weight.
Record patient histories and update medical information in the electronic medical record.
Assist providers during examinations and procedures.
Administer injections and perform point-of-care testing as directed by providers and within scope of practice.
Collect, label, and process laboratory specimens.
Assist with prescription refill requests and patient follow-up communications.
Prepare and clean examination rooms between patient visits.
Maintain adequate inventory of clinical and radiology supplies.
Participate in daily huddles and support efficient patient flow.
Cross-train with front desk and clinical staff to support clinic operations during high-volume periods.
Assist with patient scheduling, referrals, and coordination of care as needed.
Train and mentor new clinical staff on radiology workflows and clinic procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of radiologic procedures, safety standards, and infection control practices.
Ability to perform diagnostic imaging while maintaining excellent patient care.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple responsibilities.
Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
Proficiency with electronic medical records and computer systems.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
Commitment to teamwork, professionalism, and patient-centered care.

Education and Experience

Current Illinois Radiologic Technologist License required.
ARRT certification preferred.
High school diploma or GED required.
Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required.
Minimum of two years of radiology experience in an outpatient, urgent care, primary care, orthopedic, or similar clinical setting.
Experience with electronic medical records required.
Experience in community health, family medicine, urgent care, or federally qualified health centers preferred.

Physical Demands

Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance when necessary.
Ability to assist patients with positioning during radiologic procedures.
Frequent use of computers, phones, and office equipment.

Work Environment

Exposure to radiation minimized through use of personal protective equipment and radiation monitoring devices.
Potential exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, and other conditions common to a healthcare environment.
Frequent interaction with patients, providers, staff, insurance representatives, and community partners.
