Full Job Description

Position Summary

The Account Executive is an external/internal role responsible for identifying, prospecting, and developing new customer accounts while also managing and growing an existing book of business. This role is based in Cincinnati, Ohio at the company’s headquarters. The role is primarily focused on the Heat Shield product line but carries responsibility for cross-selling and promoting the company’s Gasket and Glass product lines where opportunities exist.

This individual will operate as a trusted commercial partner to customers in steel manufacturing, foundries, heavy industrial, and OEM-adjacent markets – building lasting relationships that drive sustainable revenue growth. The primary metric for this role is growth. A key strategic responsibility is identifying, cultivating, and formalizing relationships with third-party OEM partners and manufacturers’ representatives to extend market reach and accelerate new business development.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

New Business Development & Prospecting

Identify and target prospective customers in steel mills, foundries, heavy equipment manufacturers, and related industrial segments.
Develop and execute prospecting strategies including cold outreach, trade show presence, referral development, and industry networking.
Conduct discovery calls, site visits, and technical presentations to understand customer needs and position the company’s solutions.
Build and maintain a healthy new business pipeline; advance prospects through the full sales cycle from initial contact to closed order.

Account Management & Revenue Growth

Manage and grow an assigned book of business; serve as the primary point of contact for existing accounts and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
Develop and execute account plans to increase wallet share within existing accounts across all applicable product lines (Heat Shield, Gasket, Glass).
Deliver accurate and timely sales forecasts; maintain current pipeline, opportunity, and account data. Utilizes AI tools to surface insights, track account signals, and prioritize follow-up activity.
Respond to customer inquiries, quotes, and issues with urgency; coordinate with internal teams (operations, engineering, customer service) to resolve problems and deliver value.

OEM & Channel Partner Development

Identify, evaluate, and develop relationships with third-party OEM partners, distributors, and manufacturers’ representatives to expand market coverage and generate indirect revenue.
Stay current on OEM specifications and product qualification processes; work with engineering and operations to support approvals and certifications.

Cross-Selling & Product Line Promotion

Actively identify opportunities to introduce Gasket and Glass products into existing Heat Shield accounts and new prospects.
Collaborate with peer department supervisors and internal subject matter experts to develop compelling cross-sell proposals and solutions.
Communicate market intelligence, competitive insights, and customer feedback to product, operations, and leadership teams.

Travel & Field Activity

Conduct regular customer and prospect visits within the assigned territory; travel as required to support sales cycle, trade shows, and partner development.
Represent the company professionally in all external-facing activities; serve as a brand ambassador for the full product portfolio.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibility. The role may provide informal guidance to inside sales support staff or coordinate with cross-functional team members on customer-related activities.

Compensation

Base plus commission commensurate with experience.

Qualifications & Core Competencies

Sales & Business Development Skills

Proven ability to build and grow customer relationships at multiple levels – including technical, procurement, and executive contacts.
Skilled at prospecting, pipeline management, and navigating complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles.
Experience identifying and developing channel partnerships, OEM relationships, or manufacturers’ rep networks.
Strong negotiation and closing skills; comfortable discussing pricing, terms, and value propositions with confidence.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
Minimum 3–5 years of B2B sales experience, with a demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
Experience managing an existing account portfolio while simultaneously pursuing new business; hunter/farmer hybrid model preferred.
Prior experience in or exposure to steel manufacturing, foundries, heavy equipment, or high-temperature industrial applications is a significant plus.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present complex technical solutions clearly to diverse audiences.
Strong active listening and consultative selling approach; focuses on customer problems before presenting solutions.
Collaborative team player who works effectively with internal stakeholders across operations, engineering, and customer service.
Self-motivated and results-oriented; thrives in an autonomous, field-driven environment with minimal daily supervision.

Other Requirements

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel moderate to significantly within assigned territory and to key accounts or trade events nationally.
Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screening.
