Job Description: Development ManagerPosition Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Reports To: President & CEOPosition SummaryYear 1 focuses on donor cultivation, data mining, infrastructure setup, and list acquisition, transitioning into a relationship-driven growth portfolio in Year 2 and beyond. The Development Manager does not write grants from scratch or dictate narrative strategies; instead, position serves as the internal liaison, project coordinator, and compliance facilitator for FAP's contracted Grant Writer.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesIndividual Giving Program Construction & Campaigns (40%)

Donor Cultivation: Identify, build, and solidify relationships with prospective contributors, directly solicit gifts from prospects, and maintain relationships.
Business Relationship Development: Maintain existing relationships and create new alliances with local businesses, and local and national corporations.
List Mining & Data Sourcing: Audit and mine FAP’s internal historical records (past event ticket buyers, vendors, board alumni, and local supporters) to build and segment a clean prospect list of at least 500 contacts.
Campaign Launch: Design, launch, and execute FAP’s structured direct response campaigns (including direct mail and digital channels) centered around key milestones (i.e., World AIDS Day, clinic launch, 40th anniversary celebration).
Donor Onboarding and Retention (Stewardship): Create and implement a "first-time donor" onboarding journey, ensuring all new and subsequent gifts are tracked, acknowledged, and thanked within 48 hours to secure a high initial retention rate.
Recurring Giving Setup: Build and market a brand-new monthly recurring giving circle to establish a predictable, baseline individual revenue stream.
Major Donor Cultivation: Research, identify, and cultivate major donor prospects in collaboration with Board and leadership; ongoing maintenance of major donor relationships.
E-fundraising: Utilize social media and e-communication platforms to solicit and secure donations from our communities of on-line supporters and the public at-large.

Grant Pipeline Coordination & Support (25%)

Prospect Cultivation: Identify and cultivate a minimum of 5 to10 new foundation and corporate funding opportunities annually, presenting them to executive leadership and the Grant Writer for institutional review and secure invitation for application submittal, if required.
Contractor Partnership: Serve as the primary internal liaison with program and administrative staff for FAP’s contracted Grant Writer to provide all required documentation, data, and information to ensure timely grant application submittal.
Pipeline Management: Manage the master institutional funding calendar, tracking upcoming submittal and reporting deadlines and deliverables.

Special Events & Corporate Sponsorships (20%)

Event Execution: Lead the planning, budgeting, logistics, and vendor management for FAP’s friend-raising and fundraising events (e.g., World AIDS Day, clinic launch, 40th anniversary celebration, etc.).
Event Development: Work with Board and senior management to develop low-cost and larger scale fundraising and friend-raising events throughout our service area.
Corporate Packages: Design corporate sponsorship packages and pitch local and national businesses to secure event underwriting and corporate grants.
Peer-to-Peer Support: Coordinate digital peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns and support volunteer fundraisers.
Development Committee: Work with Board and senior leadership to implement committee of higher-level volunteer fundraisers for ongoing organizational and event support, general fundraising, major gifts and facilitate relationships with committee members.

Database Administration & Financial Operations (15%)

Donor Database Management: Serve as the primary administrator for the donor database to clean existing records, build out donation landing pages, and ensure perfect data integrity.
Financial Reconciliation: Collaborate with the finance team to reconcile monthly fundraising reports with the general ledger.
Reporting Dashboards: Generate monthly dashboards tracking progress toward fundraising goals for executive leadership and the Board of Directors.

Performance Expectations & Phased Growth GoalsYear 1: The Building & Infrastructure Phase

Donor Database Optimization: Audit, clean, and fully configure the database to properly track individual giving segments.
Board Alignment: Partner with leadership to facilitate 100% board fundraising participation, establishing an internal culture of philanthropy.
First-Time Acquisition: Successfully acquire 50 to 100 brand-new, first-time individual donors through Year 1 digital and direct-mail campaigns.
Team Collaboration: Establish a seamless administrative workflow with the contracted Grant Writer, ensuring zero disruption to existing institutional grant revenues.

Year 2 & Beyond: The Scaling & Sustainability Phase

Portfolio Upgrades: Cultivate and manage relationships with newly acquired donors, aiming for a 5% to 10% increase in baseline individual revenue by Year 2 via targeted gift upgrades.
Donor Retention: Maintain a 75% to 80% donor retention rate post-Year 2 to lock in the baseline giving community.
Corporate Evolution: Transition transactional, one-off event sponsorships from Year 1 into multi-year corporate partnerships.
Activity Metrics: Once a base is established (Year 2+), conduct a minimum of 50 to 60 meaningful face-to-face or virtual touchpoints annually with mid-level prospects and corporate representatives.

Required Qualifications

Experience: 3 to 5 years of professional nonprofit fundraising, campaign management, or donor relations experience, with a preferred background in Annual Funds or Campaign Creation, and with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Systems Builder Mindset: Demonstrated experience organizing complex or inconsistent data, developing fundraising pipelines, and launching projects from the ground up.
Collaborative Mindset: Proven ability to work productively with external contractors, senior subject matter experts, and cross-functional teams in a professional and cooperative manner.
Tech Savvy: Advanced proficiency with donor databases, automation workflows, fundraising platforms, and email platforms (e.g., Mailchimp).
Mission Alignment: Deep commitment to health equity, harm reduction, and the LGBTQ+ community.

Pay: $82,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
