Experienced Remodeling Carpenter - Future Lead Carpenter
Korban Contracting, LLC
Location:
Pay: $25-$30per hour, based on experience
Schedule: Full-time / Typical work hours 7am-4pm M-F
Employment Type: Employee or Independent Contractor
The Opportunity
Korban Contracting is looking for an experienced, hands-on remodeling carpenter who is ready to grow into a lead position.
Our current lead carpenter brings 44 years of homebuilding and remodeling experience. Over approximately the next six months, he will gradually transition to a reduced schedule. The right person will begin by working directly alongside him, learning our projects, standards, and methods before assuming greater responsibility for much of the daily leadership of our remodeling sites.
This is not a position for someone who needs to prove that they already know everything. We are looking for someone experienced enough to lead, humble enough to keep learning, and dependable enough to earn the trust of an established team.
After the transition takes place, our veteran lead will remain involved as a mentor and technical resource. The incoming supporting carpenter will earn greater ownership of daily jobsite operations while continuing to respect and benefit from the knowledge his years in the trade provide.
About Korban Contracting
Korban Contracting has served clients since 2007 and is built on a longstanding family tradition of craftsmanship.
Our work is guided by:
- Integrity
- Humility
- Respect
- Accountability
- Quality and efficiency
- Continuous improvement
- Honest communication
- Under-promising and over-delivering
We believe every client’s home should be treated with the same care we would give the home of the family member most dear to each one of us.
What You’ll Do
Initially, you will:
- Work hands-on alongside our current lead carpenter
- Learn Korban’s standards, processes, projects, and team rhythm
- Assist with residential remodeling and general carpentry work
- Help guide and train less-experienced team members
- Anticipate what needs to happen next and keep work moving efficiently
- Maintain a safe, clean, organized and respectful jobsite
- Communicate clearly about progress, materials, delays, and potential problems
As you transition into the lead role, you will increasingly:
- Direct daily jobsite activities
- Coordinate team members, apprentices, subcontractors, materials, and equipment
- Review project plans and clarify the day’s priorities
- Monitor workmanship, efficiency, safety, and schedule
- Solve onsite problems and know when to seek guidance
- Communicate professionally with clients and the Korban office
- Protect completed work and the client’s property
- Help develop a capable, dependable remodeling team
- Carry forward the standards established by our veteran lead carpenter
Who We’re Looking For
The right candidate will have:
- Proven, hands-on residential remodeling and carpentry experience
- Broad knowledge of remodeling methods, materials, tools, and job sequencing
- The ability to perform quality work without constant supervision
- Experience guiding coworkers or leading work on an active jobsite
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- A willingness to both teach others and learn from someone with decades of experience
- Clear, respectful communication
- A strong commitment to safety, cleanliness, and care for clients’ homes
- Dependable attendance and the ability to arrive prepared and on time
- Personal hand tools appropriate for the trade
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- The ability to perform the essential physical duties of remodeling work, with or without reasonable accommodation
You May Be a Great Fit If You Are:
- Skilled but still teachable
- Confident without bringing an ego to the jobsite
- Proactive and able to recognize what needs to happen next
- Comfortable working directly alongside the crew
- Patient when training apprentices and developing coworkers
- Serious about craftsmanship and efficiency
- Interested in building a long-term role rather than moving from job to job
- Ready to earn leadership through consistency, trust, and demonstrated ability
What This Position Is Not
This is not a desk-only superintendent or project-management role. The person we hire must be ready to work with tools, solve problems onsite, support the crew, and lead through example.
It is also not an immediate replacement of our current lead. The transition will be intentional and collaborative, allowing the incoming leader to learn from his experience while gradually taking responsibility for daily site operations.
What We Offer
- A clear path into a lead jobsite position
- Direct mentorship from a homebuilder with 44 years of experience
- The opportunity to influence and develop a growing remodeling team
- A company culture centered on respect, integrity, craftsmanship, and improvement
- Preformance Bonuses
- Other benefits or allowances
