A highly regarded, boutique law firm in Raleigh, North Carolina, recognized in the 2026 Best Law Firms rankings and with more than 50 years of continuous service to clients in the Raleigh area and throughout North Carolina, seeks an experienced, senior-level Paralegal to join its estate practice group. The firm has a concentrated practice in estate and wealth transfer planning, trust and estate administration, probate, tax planning, and corporate and business law. Its attorneys, paralegals, and CPAs work as an integrated team, delivering sophisticated, client-first legal service with integrity and attention to detail.

Position Overview

We are seeking a self-directed, senior Estate Planning and Estate Administration Paralegal with the knowledge and experience to manage complex, multi-faceted matters with minimal supervision. The right candidate will be fully conversant in all phases of estate planning and estate administration, deeply familiar with North Carolina Clerk of Superior Court procedures and eCourts/Odyssey electronic filing, and able to serve as a trusted partner to attorneys, clients, and fiduciaries throughout every stage of an engagement.

Estate Planning

Draft and prepare wills, revocable living trusts, irrevocable trusts, durable powers of attorney, healthcare powers of attorney, HIPAA authorizations, and advance directives under attorney supervision

Estate & Trust Administration

Independently manage estate administration matters from initial qualification through final accounting.
Prepare and file all required documents with the Clerk of Superior Court, including applications for letters testamentary and letters of administration, 90-day inventories, annual accounts, final accounts, and petitions relating to estate proceedings
Coordinate asset identification, marshalling, appraisal, and valuation; correspond with financial institutions, brokerage firms, transfer agents, and other agencies on behalf of personal representatives and trustees
Assist attorneys with fiduciary litigation support, including preparation of petitions, inventories, exhibits, and correspondence in contested estate and trust matters

Client & Administrative Support

Serve as a point of contact for clients, beneficiaries, co-fiduciaries, and financial institutions throughout administration
Prepare client correspondence, status updates, transmittal letters, and closing memoranda
Coordinate with the firm's in-house CPAs and accountants on tax-related matters integral to estate and trust administration

Required Qualifications

Comprehensive knowledge of North Carolina probate law and Clerk of Superior Court procedures, including common form and solemn form probate, estate accountings, and trust proceedings
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and PDF software
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to independently manage a high volume of complex, concurrent matters
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and a professional, client-focused demeanor
High level of discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive client and fiduciary information

Preferred Qualifications

ABA-approved paralegal certificate, bachelor's degree in paralegal studies, or equivalent combination of education and verifiable experience
Experience working directly with CPAs or accountants in a multi-disciplinary professional services environment
Prior involvement in contested estate or trust matters and fiduciary litigation support
North Carolina Notary Public commission
