Job Title: Staff Accountant

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Staff Accountant with 0-2 years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree with a major or concentration in accounting. While not mandatory, candidates actively working toward completing the CPA exam are preferred. This role offers the opportunity to work both in the field and in the office on engagements involving audits and tax return preparation.

Key Responsibilities

Audit Support:
Assist in evaluating clients' internal accounting controls.
Participate in year-end audit work within a collaborative team environment.
Test compliance with internal controls to ensure reliability.
Accounting Duties:
Prepare adjusting journal entries at year-end for tax or audit clients.
Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP and other reporting bases.
Reconcile client bank accounts and investigate discrepancies.
Reconcile subsidiary accounts to control accounts.
Compute accruals and document supporting evidence.
Prepare schedules for write-offs of prepaid expenses and deferred charges.
Tax Preparation:
Work with federal and state income tax laws and regulations to prepare tax returns.
Conduct online research to address tax or financial statement issues, providing written or verbal conclusions.

Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
Experience:
0-2 years of accounting experience.
Skills:
Working knowledge of GAAP and GAAS.
Familiarity with federal and state income tax laws.
Proficiency in accounting software and firm resources.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Professional appearance and conduct.
Attention to detail and accuracy with numeric and alphabetic data.
Other:
Ability to travel overnight 1-2 weeks per year.
(Preferred) Actively pursuing CPA certification.
