Hiring an In-Home Meal Prep Chef (Independent Contractor)

New Braunfels / San Antonio

About the role:

We are a California-based private chef business expanding into the New Braunfels / San Antonio area and are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented chef to execute weekly in-home meal prep for busy families and professionals.

This is not a restaurant job and not event catering.

It’s calm, structured, daytime work in private homes.

What you’ll be doing:

Cooking weekly in-home meal prep for assigned clients

Preparing:

3 lunch/dinner recipes

1 simple breakfast or snack

Following provided menus, systems, and standards

Grocery shopping (or using pre-ordered groceries when applicable)

Leaving kitchens clean and organized

Communicating clearly with our operations lead (that’s us!)

Schedule & volume:

Flexible weekday scheduling (mostly mornings–early afternoons)

1–3 clients per day, depending on availability

Ideal for chefs wanting consistent side income without nights/weekends

Perfect for parents, culinary grads, or chefs transitioning out of restaurants

Pay:

$150 per completed session

Paid weekly

Grocery costs covered directly by client

Opportunity for additional clients as we grow

You’re a great fit if you:

Have professional kitchen experience (restaurant, catering, or private chef)

Are comfortable cooking solo in client homes

Are clean, organized, and respectful of personal spaces

Can follow systems and recipes (this is important)

Communicate professionally and show up on time

Hold (or can obtain) a Texas food safety certification

You want full creative control on every menu

You dislike structure or systems

You’re unreliable or frequently reschedule

You’re looking to upsell your own services to clients
