Full Job Description

Love providing awesome food to happy customers, but don't love the typical toxic kitchen or late night hours of a restaurant?

DeLuca’s Market is hiring an experienced, reliable, full time Deli Manager for our fast paced, high volume Newbury Street location.

This is a hands on management role for someone who can lead the deli team, maintain strong daily standards, and keep the department organized, productive, and on pace. The ideal candidate is comfortable working alongside the team while also taking ownership of staffing, training, food quality, cleanliness, customer service, prep execution, and overall deli performance.

We are looking for someone who already understands how to operate in a busy deli, sandwich shop, or food service environment. This person should lead by example, work with urgency, communicate clearly, and be able to hold the team accountable in a fair, professional, and consistent way.

This role requires someone who can set the tone for the department. We need a someone who is professional, serious about the work, and able to stay calm and positive when shifts become stressful. Call outs, rushes, and unexpected problems are part of food service, and the right person for this role will be able to lead through those moments without letting stress bring down the team or affect morale.

What you’ll do:

Manage daily deli operations and help keep the department running smoothly
Lead, train, support, and hold team members accountable
Work alongside the team while maintaining pace, organization, and productivity
Lead by example in urgency, professionalism, work ethic, and consistency
Keep prep, stocking, service, and cleaning moving efficiently throughout the shift
Step in wherever needed during busy periods
Maintain strong standards for cleanliness, organization, food safety, and execution
Communicate clearly with ownership management and coworkers
Help ensure opening and closing responsibilities are completed properly and consistently
Help identify and correct issues before they become larger problems

We’re looking for someone who:

Has strong deli, sandwich, or fast paced kitchen experience
Has experience opening and closing a deli or similar food service operation
Has prior management or strong leadership experience
Can multitask while handling prep, customers, employees, and daily responsibilities
Works with urgency and stays focused during busy shifts
Is dependable, accountable, and takes pride in doing things the right way
Can give clear direction and keep others productive
Has a professional attitude and strong communication skills
Maintains a positive, professional attitude, even during stressful shifts
Can lead through busy or difficult shifts without showing frustration
Sets the tone for the team by staying calm, focused, and solution oriented under pressure
Understands how to maintain standards without needing constant oversight
Has a professional attitude and strong communication skills

Position details:

Full-time
Weekend availability required
Pay rate: $25.00/hour, based on experience
$1000 sign-on bonus after successful completion of 6 months of employment
