Job Overview

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Seamstress Tailor Sewist Alterations Specialist to join our alteration team. In this role, you will be the expert behind transforming garments into perfect fits, ensuring every customer leaves satisfied with their custom or altered apparel. Your craftsmanship will help bring confidence and style to our clients by providing high-quality clothing alterations, garment construction, and tailored solutions. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of fabric materials and sewing techniques in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. Whether working on men’s wear tailoring, women’s wear tailoring, or custom apparel production, your skills will be essential in delivering exceptional results.

Duties

Perform clothing alterations including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, resizing, and repairing garments with precision and care.
Use sewing machines, hand sewing techniques, and pressing machines to execute alterations efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards.
Operate pressing machines and press garments to ensure a professional finish that meets industry standards.
Assess fabric materials and garment construction to determine the best alteration methods for each piece.
Provide excellent customer service by understanding client needs, explaining alteration options, and ensuring satisfaction throughout the process.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including proper handling of sewing tools and equipment.
Collaborate with team members on complex projects such as custom apparel production or intricate garment modifications.

Qualifications

Proven experience in clothing alterations, garment sewing, or tailoring within a fashion retail environment.
Strong knowledge of fabric materials, stitching techniques, and garment construction principles.
Proficiency with sewing machines, hand sewing tools, pressing irons, and press operation.
Ability to perform basic math calculations for measurements and adjustments accurately.
Excellent attention to detail and steady hand-eye coordination for precise stitching and finishing work.
Customer service skills with a friendly attitude and clear communication abilities.
Knowledge of men’s wear tailoring, women’s wear tailoring, and custom apparel production is highly desirable.
Prior experience working with various fabric types and understanding their specific handling requirements.
