Position Summary:
The Supply Chain Project Lead, a project-based role embedded at a GIS client location in Memphis, TN, is responsible for ensuring all materials are available to support production schedules and on-time customer delivery. This role drives purchase order execution, leads issue resolution, and serves as an escalation point across the supply chain. The position requires strong cross-functional coordination with Category Managers, Engineering, Warehousing, Operations, and customers to ensure seamless material flow from procurement through production. This role is highly tactical and fast-paced, requiring strong organization, urgency, and the ability to balance multiple priorities while proactively identifying and mitigating supply risks.
Key Responsibilities:
Bill of Material Readiness
- Review and validate BOMs (Buyout list) for accuracy and completeness before order placement.
- Identify missing part data and proactively resolve with Engineering/Design teams.
- Ensure buyout lists are issued in a timely manner to support on-time order placement in alignment with required schedules.
Supplier Delivery Readiness
- Ensure lead-times with suppliers meet production schedule requirements; highlight risks and escalate where needed.
- Validate purchase orders (POs) are placed in the required timeframe to support production requirements.
- Collaborate with Category Managers on supplier performance issues, escalating when corrective action is required.
- Ensures all Procurement activities are carried out with a high sense of urgency.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Partner with Category Managers to ensure agreements and preferred supplier contracts are in place.
- Work with Warehousing teams to ensure parts are received, inspected, and staged/isolated for production readiness.
- Participate in internal and external (Customer led) project/program team meetings to provide supply chain updates, flag risks, and propose mitigation plans.
Mitigate Delivery Issues & Continuous Improvement
- Work with buyers to identify and resolve procurement or delivery delays, securing engagement from stakeholders across Engineering, Operations, and suppliers.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions related to material shortages or delivery risks.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives, including standardizing expediting protocols and escalation pathways
Performance & Reporting
- Track and report material readiness status, highlighting risks to production schedules.
- Support tactical supply chain KPIs such as on-time delivery to production, supplier adherence to lead-times, PO cycle times, and expedite responsiveness.
- Provide clear and timely updates to project teams and leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business, or related field preferred (or equivalent work experience).
- 7+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or materials management within a manufacturing or project-based environment.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, with ability to influence and secure engagement across suppliers and internal teams.
- ERP/MRP experience required; SAP strongly preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel and data analysis skills.

Work Environment
- Work is primarily performed in a climate-controlled office environment.
