The Breastfeeding Mama is looking for one exceptional lactation consultant to join our growing team as a home-based lactation consultant with potential opportunities for virtual consults.
We are seeking someone who is passionate about helping families, committed to providing excellent care, and excited to grow within a collaborative practice.
This is an independent contractor position serving families through in-home, office, and virtual lactation support. We are open to new and seasoned IBCLCs that have a passion for growing your clinical skills and are fast learners.
About The Breastfeeding Mama
The Breastfeeding Mama provides evidence-based, compassionate lactation support throughout the Denver metro area. We are seeking to expand to Colorado Springs with an exceptional lactation consultant interested in being an active part of The Breastfeeding Mama team .
Our practice has a strong focus on:
- Milk supply concerns
- Pumping and flange fitting
- Oral restrictions
- Painful latch and nipple trauma
- Bottle feeding challenges
- Complex feeding situations
- Practical, family-centered care
We believe the best outcomes often come from a combination of strong clinical skills, clear recommendations, and thoughtful follow-up support.
Our goal is for every family to feel supported, heard, and confident throughout their feeding journey.
Who We're Looking For
The ideal candidate:
- Is an IBCLC (or soon-to-be certified IBCLC)
- Has strong communication skills
- Is eager to learn and grow
- Is comfortable receiving feedback and mentorship
- Is available for home visits across the Denver Metro area (travel pay on top of base pay) and virtual consults
- Regular weekday availability (weekend great as well)
- Enjoys collaborating with a team
- Values continuity of care and follow-up support
- Is excited to actively accept referrals
We welcome both experienced IBCLCs and newly certified consultants who demonstrate strong clinical reasoning, professionalism, and a commitment to ongoing learning.
The ideal candidate would not have their own practice they are actively growing and running. We are looking for someone committed to the TBM team.
Pumping & Flange Fitting Expectations
Pumping support is a significant part of our practice.
All consultants are expected to:
- Carry a complete flange fitting kit
- Be comfortable supporting pumping families
- Be willing to learn and implement the FITS Flange Fitting Method from Babies in Common
- Stay current on pumping best practices and breast pump options
Training and mentorship can be provided when needed. A willingness to learn is essential.
Availability & Caseload Expectations
We are specifically looking for someone who has the availability and desire to actively serve families and grow their caseload over time.
As with any referral-based contractor position, caseloads are typically built gradually and there is no guarantee of a specific number of visits.
Consultants who tend to grow the fastest within our practice are those who:
- Maintain consistent availability
- Accept referrals regularly
- Provide excellent care
- Communicate well with families
- Make appropriate follow-up recommendations
- Work collaboratively with the team
Many breastfeeding concerns require more than one visit to fully resolve, and we believe families benefit from clear guidance regarding follow-up care when clinically appropriate.

Requirements
- Current IBCLC certification
