Design Works A Floral Studio is looking for an experienced professional Floral Designer to join our team in Colorado Springs! We specialize in high-end weddings, luxury events, corporate events, and large-scale floral installations, including extensive floral work for premier venues throughout Colorado. This is a hands-on design position for someone who already has substantial professional floral design experience and understands what it takes to produce exceptional work in a fast-paced business environment.

We are specifically seeking someone with a professional background in floral design. The ideal candidate has worked in a floral shop, event/floral design studio, hotel, wedding/event company, or similar professional environment and has experience producing finished work for paying clients.
Personal gardening, arranging flowers at home, or floral design as a hobby does not qualify as professional design experience for this position.
You should be comfortable walking into a professional design studio and independently understanding:
- Floral mechanics and construction
- Proper flower and foliage processing
- Floral conditioning and vase life
- Color theory and floral composition
- Scale, proportion, balance, and movement
- Designing with a wide variety of seasonal and specialty flowers
- Building arrangements that are both beautiful and structurally sound
- Working from a design concept, recipe, photograph, or mockup
- Producing consistent, high-quality work under time constraints
- Designing for weddings and large-scale events where details matter
What You'll Be Doing
As a Floral Designer, you will create detailed floral arrangements and installations that meet the company's design standards and the client's expectations while staying within the required time and budget.Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and producing high-end floral arrangements, centerpieces, bouquets, installations, and event décor
- Executing detailed floral designs from mockups, recipes, photographs, or creative direction
- Using advanced knowledge of floral mechanics to create stable, professional finished products
- Working with premium, seasonal, tropical, exotic, and specialty flowers
- Selecting flowers based on color, texture, movement, scale, availability, and vase life
- Processing and properly caring for incoming flowers and foliage
- Maintaining quality and freshness while controlling product waste and costs
- Replicating designs consistently across multiple arrangements for large events
- Adapting designs when substitutions or last-minute changes are necessary
- Working efficiently while maintaining a high standard of craftsmanship
- Assisting with large-scale installations and event setups
- Participating in event strikes and breakdowns
- Working collaboratively with other designers, warehouse staff, sales staff, and event teams
- Keeping design areas, coolers, tools, and workspaces clean and organized
- Assisting with deliveries and other event-related responsibilities as needed
- Occasionally assisting clients or answering questions when necessary
- Completing orders and paperwork accurately

Experience & Qualifications
Required:
- At least 2 years of professional floral design experience
- Strong knowledge of floral mechanics, flower varieties, processing, and care
- Experience creating finished floral arrangements in a professional business setting
- Ability to execute designs accurately and efficiently
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently while following creative direction
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced event environment
- Valid driver's license, insurance, and reliable transportation
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and event-related hours when required
Preferred:
- Experience with luxury weddings or high-end events
- Hotel or resort floral design experience
- Experience with large-scale floral installations
- Experience with specialty, tropical, or imported flowers
- Experience designing from professional floral recipes and mockups
Physical Requirements
This position is physically active and requires the ability to:
- Stand, walk, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, push, and pull for extended periods
- Work for up to 10 hours during busy event days
- Lift and carry up to 35 pounds
- Work with sharp floral tools and flowers/plants with thorns
- Work in coolers and varying temperatures
- Work outdoors during event setups and breakdowns in both hot and cold weather
- Drive company or personal vehicles when necessary
Event Schedule
Because we produce events throughout Colorado, this position requires flexibility with the event schedule. Evening, weekend, early-morning, and holiday work may be required based on our event schedule. Event strikes are frequently performed outside of normal business hours and are an essential part of this position.
