Full Job Description

The responsibilities for the front desk are:

Answering emails, phone, facebook, broadly

Uploading Vaccination records and calling clients to remind them of vaccinations, waivers and what they need for their scheduled appointment.

Entering Data into Gingr for vaccines and medication sheets

Scheduling clients in Gingr for classes, assessments, dayschool, daycare and boarding.

Taking deposits and payment as needed.

Properly check dogs in and out for Day School & Boarding

Running dogs to and from their kennels.

Making sure the lobby area and parking lot is clean and presentable. (snow shoveling as needed.

Maintain HoD Standards and work with your team to complete all tasks

This is a great opportunity for someone that loves dogs and has experience with scheduling. Will need to be patient and understanding with clients that are having a hard time dealing with their dogs behavior.

Applicants should love to talk to clients and need to be knowledgeable about all services and promotions to explain and sell them to potential clients.

Needs to be available Monday and Tuesday. In addition to working the front desk a couple times a week, this position would also be a kennel technician.

The primary responsibility of a Kennel Technician is ensuring the well-being of all dogs staying at House of Dog Training. Secondary duties include maintaining a clean facility and following guidelines set out by the Pet Animal Care Facilities Act (PACFA) for dog daycare and boarding. Being a Kennel Technician is a medium-to-high intensity job that requires employees to be on their feet and moving for long periods of time. Kennel Technicians are exposed to loud noises, biological hazards, cleaning chemicals, and allergens. Kennel Technicians are occasionally required to lift heavy objects that can weigh up to or over 50 pounds, and may be responsible for handling large, powerful animals. Part of the job requires time spent outside, even during inclement weather. Daily tasks include but are not limited to:

Feeding and watering dogs as needed, including preparing meals and treats
Taking dogs out for potty breaks and playtime on a regular basis
Running small doggie playgroups
Identifying specific dog’s needs and whether or not a dog might be stressed, ill, injured, or otherwise acting abnormally
Administering medications as necessary
Picking up excrement from the backyard and hosing off the grass as needed
Documenting a dog’s daily activities for client reports
Cleaning unoccupied (and sometimes occupied) kennels and crates to PACFA requirements
Sweeping and mopping the floors
Taking out the trash
Washing dishes
Doing laundry
Working with other staff to ensure all procedures at House of Dog Training are correctly implemented and followed

Qualified candidates will possess the following skills/traits:

High school diploma or GED
Passion for animal welfare
Patience when dealing with difficult dogs
Confidence when dealing with reactive or aggressive dogs
Capability to use only positive reinforcement techniques
Self-motivated work ethic
Ability to work individually or as part of a team
Adaptability to a constantly changing environment
Time management and prioritization
Attention to detail
High cleanliness standards
Willingness to work nights and/or weekends, including holidays

Additional/preferred (but not required) skills/traits:

Prior Kennel Technician experience
Any kind of dog training certification, especially programs that emphasize positive-only training techniques such as the Pet Professional’s Guild
Pet First Aid
Veterinary Technician or Animal Nutrition certifications
Working knowledge of dog breeds and their key characteristics

Background checks and pre-employment drug tests will be preformed prior to hiring.
