Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Step-Down Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse to join our dedicated healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide expert nursing care to patients transitioning from intensive care to less acute settings, ensuring seamless recovery and optimal health outcomes. Your expertise will support patients with complex medical needs, including those requiring cardiac, neurological, or post-surgical care, in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patient lives while working alongside skilled healthcare professionals committed to excellence.

Duties

Deliver comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized care plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
Monitor vital signs, administer medications, and manage IV infusions with precision and adherence to safety protocols.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care, discharge planning, and follow-up treatments.
Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation of patient progress and medical records.
Perform specialized procedures including suturing, catheterization, tube feeding management, and aseptic techniques.
Conduct patient education on medication administration, pain management strategies, and post-discharge care instructions.
Respond swiftly to acute changes in patient condition using critical care response procedures and ensure timely escalation when necessary.

Skills

Proven experience working in step-down units or progressive care settings with critical care experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of cardiac catheterization, telemetry monitoring, and ICU procedures.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for efficient medical documentation.
Expertise in medication administration, IV insertion, aseptic technique, and infection control practices.
Ability to perform detailed physical examinations, vital signs assessment, and diagnostic evaluation.
Excellent communication skills for effective triage, patient education, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical terminology to ensure compliance and confidentiality.
