Farm Maintenance Manager
We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and hands-on Farm Maintenance Manager to oversee the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of a private farm and residential property. This is a working manager position responsible for supervising a team of approximately three maintenance employees while also working alongside the team to complete daily projects and routine maintenance.
The Farm Maintenance Manager will work closely with the property owner each day to establish priorities, coordinate projects, assign responsibilities, and ensure the farm and property are maintained to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
Farm & Grounds Maintenance
- Perform and oversee mowing, weed eating, edging, blowing, and general grounds maintenance.
- Operate tractors, bush hogs, backhoes, and other farm and heavy equipment.
- Maintain driveways, roads, drainage areas, fields, pastures, and other areas of the property.
- Perform bush hogging and general pasture maintenance.
- Maintain and repair fencing, gates, and horse paddocks.
- Keep the farm, grounds, barns, buildings, and work areas clean and well maintained.
- Assist with seasonal property maintenance and special projects.
Equipment & Vehicle Maintenance
- Maintain tractors, golf carts, farm vehicles, lawn equipment, trailers, and other machinery.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and minor mechanical repairs.
- Maintain appropriate service schedules and coordinate outside repairs when necessary.
- Ensure equipment and tools are properly maintained, safely operated, and stored appropriately.
Property & Building Maintenance
- Perform general repairs and maintenance to the main residence, barns, outbuildings, and other structures on the property.
- Handle basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and general handyman-type projects when within the employee's capabilities.
- Identify maintenance and repair needs before they become larger problems.
- Coordinate specialized repairs with outside contractors when necessary.
- Assist with maintenance and upkeep of the swimming pool and surrounding areas.
Team Management
- Supervise and work alongside a maintenance team of approximately three employees.
- Assign and prioritize daily work based on discussions with the property owner.
- Monitor work quality and ensure projects are completed properly and efficiently.
- Train team members on equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and safe work practices.
- Maintain a productive, organized, and professional work environment.
- Take responsibility for seeing projects through from start to finish.
Vendor & Contractor Coordination
- Serve as the primary on-site contact for vendors and contractors working on the property.
- Coordinate scheduling and access for outside service providers.
- Monitor vendor work to ensure projects are completed properly.
- Communicate with the owner regarding vendor activities, repairs, costs, and recommendations.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Prior experience in farm, property, facilities, or grounds maintenance.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Experience operating tractors, bush hogs, backhoes, and other farm or heavy equipment.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform routine equipment maintenance and minor repairs.
- General knowledge of building, fence, grounds, and property maintenance.
- Ability to identify problems and determine whether they can be repaired internally or require an outside professional.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and changing daily priorities.
- A valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
Experience working around horses, dogs, horse paddocks, barns, and equestrian facilities is a plus.

We are looking for someone who notices what needs to be done without always having to be told and who is comfortable both leading a team and working alongside them.
The successful candidate should be able to communicate directly with the owner, provide updates on projects and maintenance needs, anticipate upcoming work, and help keep the property running smoothly.
This is not solely a supervisory position. The Farm Maintenance Manager will actively participate in mowing, equipment operation, repairs, maintenance, and other daily work alongside the maintenance team.
