Full Job Description

Job Summary: The Quality Manager ensures product conformance, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement across our manufacturing operations. This role leads the Quality team, owns the Quality Management System (QMS), and drives corrective action processes that strengthen operational performance and prevent recurrence of nonconformances. By partnering closely with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Suppliers, and Customers, the Quality Manager fosters a proactive quality mindset while ensuring compliance with ISO and company standards.

Key performance objectives in order of priority with projected time allocation are:

1. Customer Conformance & Continuous Improvement. Identify, document, and resolve nonconforming products while driving root cause analysis and systemic corrective actions that enhance customer satisfaction and operational performance. 40%

2. Leadership, Management, & Accountability. Lead and develop a high-performing Quality team while fostering cross-functional collaboration and accountability to consistently meet company and ISO standards. 40%

3. Quality Management System Ownership. Own and continuously improve the Quality Management System to ensure compliance, audit readiness, and alignment with evolving business needs. 10%

Note: Ten percent of time is reserved for ancillary responsibilities and activities unrelated to the performance objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities listed are fundamental to the position and must be performed successfully to achieve the key performance objectives of the role. Other responsibilities may be assigned.

Customer Conformance & Continuous Improvement

1. Detects, documents, and tracks nonconforming materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods to ensure timely containment and resolution.

2. Initiates and leads Corrective Action Reports (CARs) across departments, facilitating root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures to eliminate recurrence.

3. Responds to customer complaints and customer-issued CARs, completing required documentation and maintaining proactive communication with stakeholders.

4. Partners with Production to resolve internal nonconformances, clarify specifications, and correct discrepancies in drawings, SOPs, or work instructions before release to production.

5. Analyzes quality data, trends, and performance metrics; shares findings with Production Management and Continuous Improvement Coordinator to implement corrective and preventive actions.

6. Validates Supplier Corrective Action Reports and consults with Purchasing on supplier-related nonconformances to ensure corrective actions are effective.

7. Tests and inspects work-in-progress and finished products to verify conformance to customer specifications and company standards.

8. Assists in preparing Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation for new or revised parts in accordance with customer and manufacturing requirements.

9. Recommends enhancements to inspection methods, testing processes, and packaging specifications to improve efficiency and product protection.

10. Participates in customer tours and quality discussions, explaining quality processes and cross-functional interactions.

Leadership, Management & Accountability

1. Directs and supervises Quality Technicians to ensure timely completion of inspections and adherence to company, ISO, and manufacturing standards.

2. Develops team capability through structured training, coaching, and performance feedback aligned with company quality procedures.

3. Assists in hiring, evaluating, and developing Quality Technicians to build a high-performing and accountable team.

4. Participates in daily Production meetings to address quality concerns, clarify tolerance or cosmetic standards, and prevent production delays.

5. Serves as the primary quality resource for cross-functional teams, providing guidance on gray-area quality decisions prior to production release.

6. Promotes a company-wide quality mindset by collaborating with Production, Engineering, and Leadership to reinforce standards and accountability.

Quality Management System Ownership

1. Owns and maintains the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring documentation, processes, and controls align with ISO requirements and operational practices.

2. Develops, revises, and controls quality documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), control documents, and version management.

3. Provides QMS awareness training and validates employee training compliance in accordance with program requirements.

4. Prepares for and participates in customer and ISO audits, supplying calibration records, validation data, and process documentation.

5. Qualifies and validates production equipment and build boards in accordance with company and manufacturing standards.

6. Manages internal and third-party calibration programs, maintaining schedules, coordinating services, and recalibrating equipment following maintenance or tooling changes.

7. Ensures shipping readiness by communicating product release status and lead times to Shipping and Production teams.

8. Ensures compliance with ISO standards and maintains audit-ready documentation at all times.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
