Full Job Description

Job Overview

This role is responsible for conducting comprehensive behavioral health assessments for individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use issues. The counselor plays a critical role in evaluating client needs, formulating diagnostic impressions, and recommending appropriate treatment plans and referrals. Responsible for completing documentation according to Cairn Recovery Resources documentation policies.

Responsibilities

Upholds the Mission Statement of Cairn Recovery Resources, participates in general meetings and management meetings as scheduled. Relates professionally to and maintains professional relationships with all clients and staff. Complies with all agency policies and procedures including client rights, safety rules and regulations, the agency code of ethics and all applicable state and local rules. Performs other duties as assigned.
Provides quality substance use/abuse and mental health clinical assessments, treatment plans and intervention services to clients on an individual, and group basis in compliance with the agency’s policies and procedures. Maintains a caseload of individual clients as assigned. Continually observes and evaluates clients for risk of lethality, and immediately notifies the Clinical Director of clients at risk.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure continuity of care and appropriate placement.
Provide referrals to internal or external treatment providers as needed.
Assumes the caseload of other counselor(s) during emergencies, illness, and vacations as requested by the Clinical Director.
Utilizes knowledge of community resources to serve as liaison and establishes linkages between Cairn Recovery Resources and other agencies and community groups to ensure the needs of Cairn Recovery Resources clients are addressed.
Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s of Social Work or Counseling required
LSW, LISW, LPC, or LPCC required
Knowledge of DSM-5, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based assessment tools.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Decision-making skills
Strong oral/written communication skills
Problem/conflict resolution skills
Interpersonal skills
Ability to relate and communicate with a broad socio-economic cross-section of individuals
