Full Job Description

V&S Galvanizing, LLC has over 100 years of experience in Hot Dip Galvanizing, and we are the leader in the steel coating industry. Today we operate over 9 galvanizing plants in the U.S., featuring exceptional service to small fabricators as well as companies known worldwide.

Position Summary:

The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. This role performs month-end close activities, prepares financial reports, reconciles accounts, assists with audits, and supports budgeting and financial analysis. The Senior Staff Accountant partners closely with operations, finance, and corporate leadership to maintain strong internal controls and drive continuous process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

General Accounting

Prepare and record monthly journal entries.
Complete monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
Analyze general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies.
Maintain fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, and capital expenditure tracking.
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Assist with maintaining accurate chart of accounts and accounting records.

Financial Reporting

Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
Prepare internal financial statements and supporting schedules.
Analyze financial results and explain significant budget-to-actual variances.
Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial reports for leadership.
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts

Compliance & Audit

Assist with external and internal audits.
Prepare audit schedules and support documentation.
Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
Support tax filings and other statutory reporting requirements.

Accounts & Operations Support

Review and reconcile inventory and manufacturing-related transactions.
Support cost accounting activities and inventory reconciliations.
Assist with sales tax, property tax, and other regulatory filings.
Partner with operations to improve financial reporting accuracy.

Process Improvement

Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
Assist with ERP implementation, testing, and continuous system improvements.
Develop and maintain accounting procedures and documentation.
Support automation initiatives to improve efficiency.

Qualifications:

Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.

Experience

5-7 years of progressive accounting experience.
Manufacturing or industrial accounting experience preferred.
Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience with ERP systems
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
Strong Microsoft excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
Sound judgment to recognize when decisions require management input verus independent action.
