Full Job Description

Ahlum & Arbor Tree Preservation is looking for an organized, dependable, and detail-oriented Human Resources professional to join our team. This position will support the day-to-day HR needs of our growing company and work closely with employees, supervisors, Branch Managers, and leadership.

The Human Resources position is responsible for maintaining employee records, supporting hiring and onboarding, keeping payroll and benefits information current, and assisting employees, supervisors, and management with HR-related tasks. This is a hands-on position that requires someone who can stay organized, maintain confidentiality, communicate effectively, and manage multiple tasks and priorities.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Maintain employee records, employee files, and HR information
Add new employees to the payroll system and update employee information as needed
Process employee changes including raises, addresses, direct deposit, tax exemptions, benefits, and terminations
Assist with background checks for possible new hires and follow up with supervisors as needed
Assist with onboarding new employees, including new hire paperwork, binders, cubbies, and employee boards
Maintain PTO records and provide PTO information to supervisors when requested
Track absenteeism, lateness, drug testing, certifications, medical cards, licenses, and expiration dates
Assist with workers' compensation claims and related documentation as needed
Assist with employee disciplinary documentation and performance-related paperwork as needed
Assist with unemployment claims and employment verification requests
Prepare termination paperwork and assist with 401(k) and benefit cancellations
Update and distribute employee phone lists, employee rosters, years of service, and new hire information
Help keep job descriptions, employee handbooks, and HR documents updated as needed
Stay aware of employment law changes that may affect company policies or procedures
Assist with employee recognition including birthdays, anniversaries, cards, and company notices
Assist employees, supervisors, and management with HR-related questions and needs
Perform other HR and administrative tasks as required
Support the Executive Assistant, Branch Managers, and leadership team as needed in promoting the company image and supporting the company mission and values

Skills and Qualifications:

HR knowledge or previous HR experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Organization and the ability to multitask
Attention to detail to ensure employee records and information are accurate
Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling employee information
Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with employees, supervisors, and management
Flexibility to help adjust to new tasks should company or office needs change
Reliability, professionalism, and good judgment

Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
