Job Summary

Scott's Custom Jewelers is seeking a dynamic and strategic Jewelry Sales Director to lead our $1 million+ custom jewelry store. This leadership role requires a seasoned sales professional with proven experience in sales, marketing and management, preferably with a jewelry background.

Scott’s is a 99 year old, customer-focused, custom jewelry business. We are unique in that we work directly with our clients, then design and manufacture each piece of custom jewelry, one at a time, on site.

The ideal candidate will not only work with customers to design their pieces, but also oversees the sales team and daily retail operations of our independent jewelry showroom and custom design studio. This role balances custom jewelry sales and repairs with standard store management, such as staffing, sales goals, and merchandising, as well as track the unique logistics of the custom jewelry design process.

The director acts as the vital bridge between our clients, CAD department, and on-site bench jewelers to ensure a seamless, high-end experience from initial sketch to finished piece.

This full time position is salaried, not commission based, with opportunities for advancement in marketing and strategic development. We encourage work/life balance with no evening work hours.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Operations: Manage opening/closing procedures, staff scheduling, and showroom aesthetics.
Custom Process Pipeline: Oversee the staff who monitors the workflow of custom design appointments, tracking timelines between client consultations, CAD approvals, bench production, custom jewelry completion, customer presentation and follow-up.
Custom Design Consultations: Work directly with customers in designing new pieces, repairing existing jewelry and explaining our unique custom design process.
Team Leadership: Train and motivate sales staff in both retail selling techniques and the technical vocabulary needed to explain custom design options.
Vendor & Inventory Control: Manage inventories, coordinate with casting or jewelry supply vendors, and curate the merchandise for the retail showcase.

Key Skills Required

Sales Experience: Three years of full time sales experience, preferably in a luxury service or retail environment.
Project Management: Exceptionally strong organizational skills to manage multiple custom client timelines simultaneously
Interpersonal Excellence: Ability to communicate clearly with both creative artists (jewelers) and retail clients
Jewelry Knowledge A Plus: Familiarity with the jewelry manufacturing process (casting, setting, metal types) to accurately quote prices and timelines to clients
