Full Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Bankruptcy Attorney to join our legal team. In this vital role, you will lead and manage our Statewide bankruptcy department, providing expert legal counsel to clients navigating financial distress. Your expertise will help clients understand their options, develop strategic solutions, and achieve optimal outcomes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex legal matters within a collaborative environment dedicated to excellence and client advocacy.

Responsibilities

Advise clients on chapter 7 bankruptcy options, ensuring they understand procedural requirements and implications
Prepare and review legal documents such as petitions, schedules, motions, and other documents with precision and clarity
Represent clients in court proceedings, including hearings, depositions, and trial preparation, demonstrating strong litigation skills
Conduct thorough legal research using standard legal research tools to stay current on bankruptcy law updates and procedural law requirements
Negotiate with creditors, trustees, and other parties to reach favorable resolutions that align with clients’ best interests
Manage all aspects of case files using legal case management systems to ensure timely filings and compliance with court deadlines
Collaborate with colleagues across practice areas such as estate planning, family law, and general litigation to provide comprehensive legal support

Requirements

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with active bar admission in relevant jurisdictions, including state of Ohio, federal S.D. Ohio, and federal N.D. Ohio.
Proven experience in bankruptcy law handling complex cases from start to finish
Strong knowledge of procedural law, statutory legal research, and courtroom procedures
Excellent research skills utilizing LexisNexis and Westlaw for case law analysis and legal updates
Demonstrated ability in legal writing, motion preparation, contract drafting, and trial preparation
Effective client communication skills with a focus on clear explanation of legal options and strategies
Familiarity with legal negotiation techniques to facilitate settlements or agreements efficiently
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team-oriented environment

Compensation

Compensation during the initial year will be a base salary of $75,000 per year, plus quarterly performance bonuses. Yearly raises provided every January after the initial 12 month term. Health insurance stipend, PTO, and retirement match provided.
