Winn Winn Cafe is a to-go-style cafe in Columbus, Ohio, offering a curated menu of coffee, pastries, salads, and sandwiches. We emphasize approachable yet polished food with a touch of nostalgia, crafted from scratch with high-quality ingredients to create a unique and satisfying experience for customers. We are dedicated to producing high-quality pastry with the utmost care — everything we bake is handmade.

Role Description

This is a part-time, on-site Assistant Baker role at Winn Winn Cafe in Columbus, OH. The Assistant Baker works alongside the Head Pastry Chef to execute baking across all three arms of the business: wholesale, catering, and daily production for the retail cafe. As part of the baking team, you play a pivotal role in the daily success of the kitchen and business as a whole.

Job Description

Pre-scale and measure ingredients daily according to the prep list
Mix, bake, and assemble menu items in a high-volume capacity, with high attention to detail and awareness of seasonal ingredient changes
Prep, prepare, and assemble breakfast menu items to order for front-of-house service
Support fellow teammates in keeping the kitchen running smoothly through effective communication and collaboration
Keep your station and equipment clean and organized
Comply with Franklin County Health Department regulations
Uphold proper sanitation practices and utilize FIFO (First In, First Out) storage
Excel in a high-volume, fast-paced production environment

Requirements

Prior experience as a professional baker or in a commercial kitchen is a plus
Or a well-equipped, self-taught home baker
Comfort with scratch baking across bread, cookies, and pastry
Understanding of foundational baking techniques and ability to follow recipes precisely, including weight variations
Familiarity with professional scales, mixers, and kitchen equipment
Reliable, consistent, and professional
Available for early mornings and weekends (required)
Comfortable with repetitive work in a fast-paced environment
Able to adapt to change
Able to communicate effectively and be a strong team player in a small business environment
Eligible to work in the United States and 18+ years of age

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
Ability to lift, push/pull, carry, and move up to 50 lbs
Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, bend, and twist
Ability to reach for items below waist level or above shoulders

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
