Assignment Overview

Shift: Rotating, 3x12hrs
Hours: 36 hrs/wk
Start Date: Sep 8, 2026
Length: 16 weeks

Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry (Oncology) position requiring a minimum of 2 years of RN experience, Epic proficiency, and an OH or compact RN license.

Details

Inpatient oncology Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting
Patient population includes those receiving chemotherapy, managing soft tissue malignancies, undergoing diagnostic services, and requiring symptom management related to disease progression or treatment
Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
Continuous cardiac monitoring is a core component of patient care
Patient ratio is 1:4
Special equipment includes GE B450 telemetry monitors, bladder scanner, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds
Epic EMR — experience required
Rotating 12-hour day/night shifts (7:00–19:30 days / 19:00–7:30 nights); shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on staffing needs
Floating required within units of equivalent or lower acuity

Requirements

Active OH or compact RN license required
Current BLS (BCLS) certification required
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
Epic EMR experience required
Proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation and ABG interpretation
Skills required: port access, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, PICC line management, IV insertion, assistance with chest tube insertion/removal, and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) management
2 professional references required: at least 1 must be from a Manager, Director, or formal leadership role (Supervisor); a Charge RN is acceptable as the 2nd reference — co-worker references are not accepted
Ohio state fingerprinting is required and must be completed promptly after accepting an offer — candidates outside Ohio may need to travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location or receive a mailed fingerprinting packet

Additional Information

Oncology experience is preferred but not required
Previous travel nursing experience is preferred
Local candidates are accepted
Former employees of the facility are eligible to apply once they have been away for 6 months or more
Any requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration and is limited to 7 days or fewer for the contract duration
Multiple parking permit options are available for purchase on campus through CampusParc, including garage and surface lot access with varying levels of convenience
