Surgery Scheduler / Medical Records Coordinator

Eye Center of Columbus
Columbus, OH

Full-Time | 40 Hours per Week | Monday-Friday

Position Summary

Eye Center of Columbus is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Surgery Scheduler / Medical Records Coordinator to join our ophthalmology ambulatory surgery center team. This position is responsible for coordinating surgical procedures submitted by referring physician offices, maintaining accurate schedules, and managing medical records to support exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate is dependable, professional, and able to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined. No weekends required.

Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesSurgery Scheduling

Schedule ophthalmic surgical procedures submitted by physician offices
Coordinate surgery dates, surgeon block time, and facility availability
Verify receipt of required documentation prior to scheduled procedures
Communicate with physician office staff regarding scheduling requests, changes, and case requirements
Maintain accurate surgery schedules and patient information in scheduling systems
Assist in ensuring all cases are scheduled appropriately and efficiently
Coordinate with ASC staff regarding daily surgery schedules and updates

Medical Records

Prepare, organize, and maintain patient medical records
Scan, upload, and index documentation into the electronic medical record system
Process medical records requests in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
Review records for completeness and accuracy
Assist with chart preparation and record retrieval as needed
Support compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards

Qualifications

Previous healthcare scheduling, surgery scheduling, or medical records experience preferred
Ophthalmology, surgical, or ambulatory surgery center experience preferred
Strong computer and data entry skills
Experience with electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) systems preferred
Excellent organizational and time management abilities
Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with physician office staff and internal team members
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
High level of attention to detail and accuracy
