Full Job Description

Summary

The Senior Accountant supports that mission by ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of all financial information.

This is a hands‑on, detail‑driven accounting role focused on operational excellence, accuracy, and process consistency. The Senior Accountant owns core accounting operations, month‑end close, payroll processing, and financial reporting, while partnering closely with the AR/AP Specialist and supporting project managers and leadership with reliable financial data.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Core Accounting Operations & Month-End Close

· Own the monthly close process, including reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and general ledger accuracy.

· Maintain clean, organized financial records and ensure timely completion of all accounting tasks.

· Review AP/AR activity prepared by the AR/AP Specialist for accuracy, proper coding, and alignment with job costing.

· Support accurate job and project costing through proper coding, review, and collaboration with project managers.

2. Payroll, Labor Allocation & Financial Reporting

· Review payroll data, coordinate with the payroll provider, and process adjustments as needed.

· Maintain PTO tracking, commission calculations, and profit‑sharing entries.

· Ensure labor is accurately coded to jobs/projects for job costing.

· Prepare monthly financial statements (accrual basis).

· Support WIP reporting, job‑level financial analysis, and reporting by project type.

· Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis as needed.

3. Compliance, Cash Flow & Process Improvement

· Prepare data for use tax, CAT, and other jurisdictional filings.

· Support insurance reporting, including liability, workers comp, and subcontractor compliance.

· Monitor cash position and cash flow needs; review deposits, transfers, and banking activity.

· Document and refine accounting processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.

· Support implementation of purchasing workflows, job costing enhancements, and system improvements (JobTread/QBO).

· Collaborate cross‑functionally to strengthen financial operations and support company growth.

· Dependable execution and high trust across the organization.

Experience and Skills Needed to Win

· 3–5 years of accounting experience (public or private).

· Construction industry experience strongly preferred.

· Strong understanding of GAAP, accrual accounting, and month‑end close.

· High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

· Ability to organize information, identify gaps, and implement efficient processes.

· Adaptability in a growing, evolving environment.

· Ability to balance transactional work with higher‑level accounting responsibilities.

· Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with project managers, operations, and leadership.

· Proficiency with accounting systems (QuickBooks Online preferred) and willingness to learn new systems.

Compensation & Benefits

· Salary range: $70,000–$90,000
