Overview

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Travel Registered Nurse specializing in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)! This exciting role offers the opportunity to provide expert critical care to our youngest and most vulnerable patients in a fast-paced, supportive environment. As a Travel RN PICU, you will deliver compassionate, high-quality nursing care, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and make a meaningful difference in children’s lives. This position is perfect for experienced pediatric nurses eager to explore new settings while advancing their skills and enjoying flexible travel assignments.

Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive critical care nursing to pediatric patients in the PICU, including assessment, monitoring, and intervention.
Administer medications, including complex therapies such as sedation and pain management, following precise protocols.
Utilize advanced medical equipment such as ventilators, cardiac monitors, and infusion pumps to support patient stability.
Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Document patient care accurately using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Perform procedures such as IV insertions, suturing, tube feedings, and catheterizations with aseptic technique.
Conduct patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological monitoring to detect changes in condition promptly.

Requirements

Valid RN license in the state of practice with current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; additional certifications such as PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred.
Proven PICU experience or extensive ICU experience with pediatric patients; Level I or Level II trauma center experience highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of pediatric physiology, medication administration protocols, and critical care procedures.
Experience working with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9) is a plus.
Ability to perform complex medical procedures including ventilator management, IV infusion therapy, and airway management confidently.
Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams and engaging with families.
Flexibility to adapt to various hospital environments and travel requirements; prior travel nursing experience is advantageous.
