Assignment Overview

Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs
Hours: 36 hrs/wk
Start Date: Sep 8, 2026

Description

American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a Critical Care Float Pool ICU position at a major academic medical center in Ohio, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and proficiency with Epic.

Details

Critical Care Float Pool position within a large academic teaching hospital
Nurses float across multiple ICU units based on staffing and patient acuity, including Neuro ICU, Surgical ICU, Medical ICU (MICU), CVICU, and NCCU
Float assignments are limited to units of equivalent or lower acuity
Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Weekend nights required (Friday and Saturday), plus one additional weeknight shift
Epic EMR experience required
Patient population includes complex, critically ill adults across cardiovascular, neurological, surgical, and medical specialties

Requirements

Active OH RN license or Compact RN license required
Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
Prior travel experience required
Teaching/academic hospital experience required
Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
Proficiency with Epic required
Required skills: IV starts, telemetry, and ventilator management
Additional required skills include: arterial line management, central line care/management, blood product administration, PICC line management, care of ventilated patients, interpretation of ABGs, suctioning (ETT/NT), management of vasoactive and cardiac drips, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, CVA/acute stroke management, ICP monitoring, EVD management, IV insulin protocols, and management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program required
2 professional references required: at least 1 from a manager, director, or formal leadership role; a Charge RN is acceptable as the 2nd reference; co-worker references are not accepted

Additional Information

All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted prior to consideration and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
Ohio state law requires fingerprinting; candidates must complete this process promptly after signing their contract — candidates outside Ohio within driving distance must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location, while those farther away will receive a mailed packet to complete urgently
Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers
Former employees of this health system are eligible after a minimum 6-month separation from the facility; current employees are ineligible
Parking is available on-site for agency staff and can be purchased through the facility's campus parking system (multiple permit options available)
