Regional Safety Manager
Position Description
The Regional Safety Manager plays a critical role in supporting regional operations by promoting and reinforcing Penhall’s safety-first culture across all branches and jobsites. This position partners closely with operations leadership, field teams, and project stakeholders to ensure compliance with company safety standards and all applicable regulatory requirements. The Safety Manager serves as the regional subject matter expert for occupational health and safety while contributing to the overall success, safety performance, and operational effectiveness of the region. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Promote and reinforce Penhall’s safety-first culture across all regional operations and jobsites.
- Serve as the regional subject matter expert for occupational health and safety matters.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to operations teams regarding safe work practices, hazard mitigation, and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct regular site visits to evaluate field safety performance and operational compliance.
- Collaborate with branch managers and project teams to proactively identify and resolve safety concerns.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, MSHA (where applicable), DOT, and all applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain regional safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Monitor and evaluate safety performance metrics, trends, and corrective action plans.
- Lead investigations involving incidents, injuries, near misses, and property damage events.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate and conduct safety orientations, toolbox talks, leadership training, and regulatory compliance training.
- Assist in the development of employee safety competencies and certifications.
- Support onboarding and ongoing safety education for field employees and supervisors.
- Facilitate emergency response planning and preparedness activities.
- Perform routine field audits, inspections, and behavioral observations.
- Ensure jobsite documentation, permits, JHAs, and safety records are properly maintained.
- Track corrective actions and verify timely completion.
- Assist with customer safety audits and contractor qualification requirements.
- Partner with estimating, project management, and operations teams during project planning and execution.
- Participate in pre-construction meetings and high-risk activity planning.
- Support claims management and workers’ compensation processes in coordination with HR and Risk Management.
- Assist branches in achieving company safety goals and KPIs.
- Maintain accurate regional safety records and reporting.
- Prepare and present regional safety performance reports to leadership.
- Communicate regulatory updates and company safety initiatives effectively across the region.

Qualifications: Need to Have and Nice to Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Construction Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience with safety certifications considered
- 5–7 years of progressive safety management experience in construction, industrial services, or related industries required
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards required
- Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis required
- Ability to travel extensively throughout the assigned region required
- Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management systems required
- OSHA 500 Certification preferred
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CHST, ASP, or similar certification preferred, or ability to obtain certification within six months of hire
- Experience in concrete cutting, demolition, heavy civil, or specialty contracting industries highly desired
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus
- Must successfully pass post-offer pre-employment drug/alcohol screening, background check, and motor vehicle records check
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk active construction sites and industrial environments.
- Ability to climb ladders, navigate uneven terrain, and wear required PPE.
- Capable of occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to travel by vehicle and air as required.
Work Environment:
Combination of office, branch, and active construction jobsite environments. Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dust, noise, and heavy equipment operations. Must comply with all company and customer safety requirements.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
