The Charge Nurse plays a vital leadership role by providing clinical oversight, supporting nursing staff, and ensuring exceptional patient care throughout each shift.

Position Summary

The Charge Nurse is responsible for overseeing daily nursing operations, supervising nursing staff, coordinating patient care activities, and promoting a safe, therapeutic environment. This role serves as a clinical leader, ensuring all patient care is delivered in accordance with physician orders, regulatory standards, and Oak Grove Recovery policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership, supervision, and direction to nursing staff during assigned shifts
Coordinate daily nursing operations to ensure efficient and effective patient care delivery
Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and established protocols
Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions, reporting significant changes to providers and treatment team members
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant patient records and clinical documentation
Respond appropriately to emergencies, incidents, and crisis situations
Support onboarding, training, mentoring, and development of new nursing staff
Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other interdisciplinary team members to develop and support individualized treatment plans
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, accreditation, and organizational standards
Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, accountability, and patient-centered care
Advocate for patients while fostering dignity, respect, and therapeutic engagement
Serve as a positive role model and resource for both patients and staff

QualificationsRequired

Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal abilities
Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment
Commitment to ethical nursing practice and patient advocacy

Preferred

Two (2) or more years of nursing experience
Experience in behavioral health, psychiatric nursing, substance use treatment, detoxification, residential treatment, or recovery settings
Previous leadership, charge nurse, or supervisory experience
Experience working with interdisciplinary treatment teams
