Position Title: Purchasing Management
Location: Home Office either Columbus, Edinburgh, Greenfield IN or Chicago, IL,
with up to 25% travel to all company facilities and key vendors
Reports to: Vice President
Shift: 1st Shift – 8am-4pm
Position Summary: The Purchasing Management is responsible for overseeing all direct and indirect procurement, vendor relationships, and supply chain coordination to ensure production has necessary materials to run efficiently and materials are available, accurate, and cost effective. This role is also accountable for maintaining accurate inventory counts for all raw materials, ingredients, and packaging. This role works cross-functionally with production, shipping/receiving, warehouse personnel, sales, vendors, and leadership to maintain optimal inventory levels and support business operations
Daily Responsibilities
Review prior-day deliveries to verify receipt of all materials (boxes, IQF items,
ingredients, and other supplies).
Review and respond to vendor and internal communications received after
business hours.
Monitor email and phone communications throughout the day to address urgent
needs.
Verify production output against schedule to ensure inventory accuracy and
availability.
Collaborate with operations leadership (e.g., Keith) to resolve issues impacting
production or supply.
Match receiving documentation with invoices to confirm accuracy of orders and
deliveries.
Generate and send purchase orders to vendors as needed.
Continuously monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstock.
Weekly Responsibilities
Coordinate with suppliers on fresh product orders (bellies, hams, jowls,
trimmings) and issue purchase orders accordingly.
Create and distribute purchase orders based on operational needs.
Conduct comprehensive inventory reviews (boxes, IQF items, casings, sawdust,
spices, fresh materials).
Reconcile inventory against prior week production and update master inventory
records to reflect accurate counts.
Participate in recurring vendor meetings to discuss supply issues, performance,
and new opportunities.
Monitor product shelf life to ensure proper usage and minimize waste.
Vendor & Supply Chain Management
Maintain and manage relationships with key raw materials, ingredient, and packaging
vendors
Oversee procurement activities for all materials supporting current and new projects.
Lead communication with vendors regarding supply needs, issues, and continuous
improvement.
Support contract setup and negotiations
Systems & Inventory Management
Utilize ERP System:
o Track inventory levels
o Monitor shelf life
o Ensure data accuracy across all materials
Maintain and update master inventory tracking tools to reflect real-time conditions.
Ensure alignment between purchasing, receiving, and production data.
Strategic & Operational Oversight
Ensure material availability aligns with production schedules and business demands.
Identify and resolve supply chain risks proactively.
Support new product launches and ongoing operational projects.
Drive efficiency and accuracy in purchasing processes and inventory control.
Qualifications & Skills
Strong experience in purchasing, supply chain, or inventory management.
Knowledge of food manufacturing materials (IQF, fresh meats, casings, spices, etc.)
preferred.
Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., Deacom).
Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
Strong communication and vendor management abilities.
Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management,
Logistics, Finance preferred
5+ years of experience in related field
Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
