Position Overview:
Exercises sound judgment and develop clinical skills to implement the patient's plan of care based on the diagnosis in a timely manner. Gains confidence and cooperation from the patient, their family/support group, and other healthcare providers through competent patient assessment, attentive monitoring and care, and effective communication. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care.
Job Description:
NUTRITIONAL SERVICES.

Adheres to department policies and procedures, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics/Commission on Dietetic Registration Code of Ethics, and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Scope and Standards of Practice.

May provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) utilizing the nutrition care process including nutrition screening, assessment, reassessment and education/counseling.

May participate in interdisciplinary rounds, case conferences, team conferences and/or family meetings.
-
May provide nutrition information to health professionals and the community.
-
Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team, referring to other team members as needed to optimize care.

Ensures that routine and priority tasks are completed within established departmental time frames.
CLERICAL.
-
Performs general clerical tasks, such as answering phones; updating patient appointments; or retrieving, entering, and revising patient electronic health records (EHR).

Documents in the EHR all patient care provided.
SAFETY.

Maintains a clean, neat, and safe working environment.

Reports safety concerns to supervisor promptly.

Protects self and others by adhering to infection prevention policies and procedures.
COMPLIANCE.
-
Maintains strictest confidence of all protected health information (PHI) and protects all PHI from accidental, intentional, or inappropriate disclosure.

Provides quality care in compliance with department standards, policies, and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal regulatory agencies to deliver the highest level of patient privacy and care.

Maintains RD/RDN registration and completes mandated continuing education requirements to meet facility and regulatory agencies accreditation requirements.

Participates in department Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement and patient satisfaction activities.

Demonstrates compliance with other department and organization requirements and responsibilities.
EDUCATION:
Master's degree
OR RD/RDN evidencing the completion of the required level of education
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE
RD-Registered Dietitian
OR RDN-Registered Dietitian Nutritionist
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
2 years recent relevant experience
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Provides complex care using a strong understanding of human anatomy, pathophysiology, pharmacology, laboratory results, and medical terminology.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people.
Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and electronic health records (EHR).
Ability to:

Prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies and procedures to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.

Pay Range is $53.25 to $74.55 / hour
The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs.
