Full Job Description

Job Overview

The Administrative Milieu Counselor provides essential administrative, organizational, and direct care support to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of residential programs. Working within a non-institutional, family-modeled environment, this role promotes a safe, structured, and therapeutic setting while remaining personally responsive to the needs of the residents in their care.

This position combines administrative responsibilities with hands-on resident support, requiring an individual who is equally comfortable providing compassionate direct care and managing operational tasks. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate documentation, coordinating communication, assisting with scheduling, supporting program operations, and ensuring compliance with agency standards, while actively engaging with residents and contributing to their daily care and treatment.

Responsibilities:

Able to establish relationships of healthy mutuality with clients, as stated in the Wellspring mission statement, values, and philosophy, within the context of professional responsibilities.
Able to establish and maintain professional and personal boundaries.
Responsible for the overall organization of the program's chart room: the general administration and maintenance of office files and supplies, projects as assigned by the Program Director, or Milieu Supervisor, and other duties to ensure smooth flow of work and maximum organization.
Assists with new admissions, including proper completion of paperwork.
In coordination with the Milieu Supervisor or designee: maintains, updates, and posts the daily program and staff schedule, as well as the schedule of program activities and Weekend Plans.
Responsible for the maintenance and updating of all forms.
Prepares residential pass request list on a weekly basis.
Provides clerical support to the program where needed.
Maintains and updates residents log books; including levels, restorative work, and special protocols.
Receives, maintains, and reports accurate Petty Cash funds on a monthly basis.
In conjunction with the Milieu Supervisor, coordinates monthly fire drills and ensures that they are returned in a timely matter.

Skills and Competencies:

Capable of receiving and utilizing supervision for professional growth.
Able to observe, interpret and share client’s patterns of behaviors as they apply to the Master Treatment Plan’s goals objectives.
Demonstrates an awareness of the developmental issues of the program clientele and the impact of various disorders on human development.
Ability to participate in Wellspring’s intimate, intensive, and expressive programs; ability to work therapeutically with assigned age group.
Maintains confidentiality as it relates to all aspects of student/client/resident information.
Reports to work on time and works assigned hours.
Completes all assignments, paperwork, and reports in a responsible and timely manner.
Is consistent in daily work relationships. Demonstrates initiative and stable mood. Is supportive of others, willing to share information and collaborates as a team player.
Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Requirements:

A.S./B.A. Degree in Psychology, Social Work or a related field
One year experience working with the emotionally disturbed or handicapped, or equivalent life or work experience.
An interest in learning about treatment of emotional disturbances outside of the traditional mental health setting.
